Ok, hoping someone can shed some light here. Always been confused about how Mosley's keychain ends up on the floor at Truart's murder. Now, we now Mosley hereself did not kill Truart, it was more likely a Pagan or one of the ape beasts.
So, the Pagan's planted the keychain. Were they in essence throwing Mosely under the bus for the murder? Did they want to frame her? That doesn't seem to jive with future missions, but I can't see it any other way. Why else would they leave Mosley's keychain at the murder scene?
I think this is one of the things I might need to clear up in Thief2 Gold.

I always thought this was a bit odd, too. I can think of two possible explanations:
1. The murderer left in a real hurry and accidentally dropped the key chain.
2. Viktoria and her agents had been following Garrett and watching his actions, so they knew that Garrett is going to show up at Truart's mansion. They didn't want him to interfere with their plan to kill Truart, but wanted to get in touch with him for further actions against the mechanists; therefore, the killer left the key chain at the scene on purpose, as a clue for Garrett. T2X seems to follow this assumption, based on the letter from Viktoria found in the last mission.
Nonetheless, it still seems pretty stupid of Mosely to give the pagans her key ring. What's the point? Why not just give them the key itself?

There are a few letters from Mosley to Viktoria in Trail of Blood. They provide a detailed description of the conduct of their cooperation. One of them mentions that a Pagan assasin accidentally left the keyring on site, and also expresses the relief that the keyring wasn't found by the Watch.

Ah, I'd forgotten about that. Makes the letter in T2X seem rather illogical, then.

With all due respect, I wouldn't treat anything from any FM as a proper explanation of the canon. But, what Viktoria had told the assasin to do, what the asssasin had actually done, what the assasin told Viktoria about what he had done, and what Viktoria told Mosely about what the assasin had done - these are all different things...

Oh, I never meant to suggest that T2X is canonical in any way, I simply pointed out that others seem to have interpreted things differently.
One thing that
might make that interpretation plausible is one of the earlier letters from Mosely to the pagans, found in Trail of Blood, where she mentions that besides the pagans, Truart seems to be hunting "some poor soul named Garrett". (I found the wording a bit odd, though, as it suggests that Mosely doesn't know who Garrett is, even though every watchman in the City streets will instantly recognize him as a wanted criminal.) This could have caused Viktoria to keep a close eye on Garrett to find out what he's up to, and that way, she might have found out that he's going to break into Truart's mansion that night. But it does feel rather far-fetched, and the explanation about the murderer accidentally dropping the key seems more likely.

The letter could have been written before the corrupt 'APB' on Garrett was put out, I guess. (plus they probably enjoyed writing "some poor soul named Garrett" for players to read)

Or maybe...maybe she assumed the pagan's didn't know who Garrett was! Ha ha! I can believe she wouldn't know of their past "association."
"Wanted: The one-eyed thief"

I think then it would be "A poor soul named Garrett" (and she'd not want him to seem so sympathetic)

I don't have a problem with "some". I use it that way, myself, and am understood.
