Hey yeah, maybe EB would take my old copy on a trade.

Well it's like the old game, cept now you can look around without having to stop.

I think the trade-in value of MGS3 is like $2-$3 - you could already buy it new for $15-20 BEFORE subsistence came out - better to just give it to a friend.

BEST to just not buy Subsistence. ;)

Well, I finished the game today. I'll at least say the ending was worth playing through. Although,
I'm still dying to know who Ocelot is REALLY working for. Fourple crossing? Maybe MGS4 will let us know.
The game does get much better about half way through. You tend to get used to how melodramatic it is and take it in stride. I still say the first three bosses are extremely silly. Although the old man was a really cool idea.
Hunting a sniper and all. It challenged what can be fun in a game. It was frustrating and fun at the same time.
I really loved that
Eva tricked everyone from the beginning. She's such a silly character anyway, at least they added that believability to her. Even if it doesn't even come close to making her believable.
But what I don't get is
Why did Ocelot not say anything about EVA not really being ADAM? Infact, he pinned it on her. Maybe to conceal himself better? Wouldn't it worry him that he didn't know who she was and what her mission objectives were?
The long answer to your questions is: (
http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/metal_gear_solid_13_plot_char.txt). An excellent plot analysis of the series.
If you don't want to read that, I can give you short answers from memory combined with checking the guide to make sure I'm not addled in the head.
Basically, the key to following Ocelot's tangled allegiances throught the series is: he is working for the Patriots. Period. He was raised by the Patriots, he is a product of the Patriots. Anything he does furthers the objectives of the Patriots. He betrays Volgin for them, Liquid for them, Solidus for them.

This isn't covered in the guide - and, having not played MGS3 since its release (my copy of subsistence hasn't arrived yet) my memory is fuzzy. But I recall there being TWO theoretical NSA codebreakers - Adam and Eva. Eva is supposed to be just that - Eva, not Adam - I think she tells snake that Adam couldn't make it, or something. Adam is, of course, Ocelot - as to why he and Snake ended up shooting eachother instead of meeting eachother like good compatriots, I'm not sure, though I do think I figured this out and just forgot about it. Sorry for not being more help here.
Ah, of course. That makes sense. So, at the end of MGS2 when he says
Mr. President. That's just showing you how deep his ties are with the American government?

But in the end, EVA says that she was never one of the code breakers. She's not EVA, infact she has been working for the Chinese government and was raised in a school founded by the Philosophers. And she later says she is one of them. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong. I mean, this story is pretty confusing.
Maybe I'll have to do some research in the link you gave me. Thanks, I appreciate the help.
By the way, the link didn't work. I think this is the one you were looking for: (

Mine works just the same, doesn't it?
Aerothorn on 18/3/2006 at 23:04
None of them work for me...guess Gamespot doesn't like remote linking. Basically, GameFAQ's MGS3 page has two story guides; one is simplistic/morally absolustist (why did big boss turn evil?) and the other one is much more lengthy and complex - that's the one I was linking to.
And yeah, I realize my answer isn't that good on the second question - I'll get back to this once I've played the game again.
