Only Metro thread is in STALKER sub-forum which is sub-optimal.
Things of some possible interest to people here based on latest interview: MP + Coop, more "home made" weapons, morality points again and unlike the original game almost all of 2034 can be stealthed.

I still need to play the 1st game (and why the thread is in the fucking STALKER sub-forum, I'll never know...) but the added features and the heavier emphasis on stealth is making it sound like a must-have.

It's a post-apo FPS complete with mutants and even an anomaly or two. It's also made by Ukrainians, many of whom are former GSC members (most notably Oles' Shiskovtsov and Aleksandr Maksimchuk, who wrote most of X-Ray engine STALKER uses).

The game isn't being called Metro 2034, it's being called Metro: Last Light, because it isn't related to the plot of the book Metro 2034. As far as gameplay, I'm not sold- the videos make it seem like more of a straight-up arcadey shooter than the first game.

I'm looking forward to the game, but I'm just hoping they finally translate the book into English now.

I love the little touches they added to the gameplay like burning spiderwebs, more lightsources to turn off or shoot...but we will see how the shooting itself will work out. Metro 2033 had impressive visuals and a strong atmosphere but somehow I could not get to terms with its linearity. I always had the urge to run off which was impossible. Also the checkpointsystem did not work that well in some maps, having to redo whole sections...and it seems they assume the "violent" ending for the first game which is sad imo.

This.
While trailers obviously aren't entirely reflective of how the end product will be, they have so far reminded me more of Black-Ops' painfully overused and non-interactive scripted sequences than the scattered and somewhat more effective equivilants in Metro: 2033.
Nevertheless, it still sits at the top of my Steam wishlist, because ...maaan... 2033 had atmosphere bursting out of every environment. As long as they recreate that, I'm not going to be
hugely fussy. I just really don't want to be playing future-russian-apocalyptic-Call-of-duty-enemies-popping-up-behind-chest-high-walls-kill-them-all-move-to-next-area. I do detect an implication from the trailers that it could possibly,
possibly lean towards that style of play, though that is of course, highly speculative!

If it's hostile, you kill it.
That's also the ending in the book.

STALKER subforum should be changed to IRON CURTAIN GAYMES FORUM
