I thought that looked great. The first Castlevania I am excited about in ages.

Castlevania should be about exploring a castle, more then enough brainless beat'em ups if that's your thing.
Castlevania was an NES platformer... what on earth makes that any kind of an exploration game? When I think of CV i get about 10 other games that cross my mind that are all the same. Shinobi, Bionic Commando, Ninja Gaiden, Contra, Mario Bros. They were all pretty mindless.
EDIT: not that i think thats bad

Basically every 2D CV since Symphony of the Night has had a Metroid-esque structure.
As I said before, this new game look to be taking the series back to a place that's closer to its roots and I welcome the change.

I hope they're not trying to shove way too much story into this. Looks pretty good but I actually laughed at one part.
"REMEMBA ME?"
Visor reveals black dude.

Yeah. I was all like WHAT THE HELL IS BLACK FOLK DOING IN MUH SPACE VIDJA GAMES?
The new Castlevania looks pretty neat. Definitely more to its roots than the Metroidvania games on the GBA and DS. The only problem I have with it is it looks like you'll just be fighting nonstop from beginning to end. No platforming in sight. Beat-em-ups by themselves, without anything to spice up the action in between, usually end up boring the hell out of me after an hour or so.
So if I get to beat shit up while hopping around on gears and swinging pendulums...oh damn, son...I AM SO SOLD.
Also Medusa Heads.

What do you need gameplay for when you have sheer Victorian
gravitas, for goodness' sake!? Patrick Stewart! I'm in love! This should be a movie, not a game.

It is a Kojima game after all. There's probably 2 hours of cutscenes.

The Gentleman Who Had The Wherewithal With Which To Hit Dracula With A Whip: The Movie...Based On The Game.
Gravitas can only go so far. Look at God of War for a good example. That game had some nice over the top style going on. Killing people with smooth graceful brutality, skewering hydra heads on broken ship masts, kicking Minotaurs in the sack, that game had every cool action movie staple at its disposal. I even got to straight up plow a chick for coins or hearts or something after the first level. But after about an hour or so, even style and cinematic panache couldn't keep me from getting bored with the game. There's only so many times I can hit triangle, triangle, triangle, triangle, triangle, square before it starts getting old.
It's the same reason why I never liked Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, or any of the old beat em ups. They're fun at first, but they get repetitive so quickly. That's why I want a little more for this new Castlevania.

2 hours is a little... less, for a Kojima production, wouldn't you say? :D But, to be precise, Kojima isn't completely calling the shots here. There's probably going to be more game than movie.
Who knows, though, maybe the entire game could turn out to be one uninterrupted cut scene interspersed with random QTEs.* Ah! Bliss! I think I'm going to blow my load just thinking about it.
Renz: Excellent point. Even more reason for this new Castleyvaniar to be a movie, then.

That's very true. I bet if some brave company were to redo Night Trap and Sewer Shark, people would eat it right up nowadays.
I can see the reviews now. "A brave interactive movie experience that put me in the role of a 'sewer shark' like no other game has before it. I was completely immersed by the innovation, though the single player game kinda sucked. 10/10".
