Never played it, but I used to have Zero Mission. Pretty good 2-d Metroid game, especially for a GBA.

Zero Mission is... you know, I'd probably like that one more if it wasn't a deceptively linear, handholding load of boring.

Yeah, fun enough on the bus, though.

Oh great. Now Fusion is a bad game.
Not a bad game, per se, but very overly heavy-handed on the plot gates and the irrelevant computer-related samus monologues. And those are the parts they're alluding to.
And uh...zero mission linear? But you can't beat that game with like 3% of all items, and skip nearly everything. It's fucking hard as hell, and some of those bomb jumps are batshit insane, but it can be done.

Well, Metroid Gaiden sounds like quite a bit of fun...

ZM is a load of linear handholding bullshit. Sequence breaking doesn't count. You can try to explore except you can only go a little ways before you hit a brick wall, whereas in Super Metroid for instance you could explore quite a bit before you had to turn back.
Phatose on 7/6/2009 at 23:51
So, you're mad that ZM doesn't let you go halfway across the map before it turns out you're not supposed to go that way and have to turn back, and if you happen to find a way to keep going that way anyway, it doesn't count?
june gloom on 8/6/2009 at 00:00
Exploiting quirks of the engine don't count as proper exploring, no.
Phatose on 8/6/2009 at 01:24
Dethtoll, an awful lot of sequence breaking was things like bomb jumping, which was completely intentional. I seem to remember the devs saying as much.
june gloom on 8/6/2009 at 03:08
It's called sequence breaking for a reason.
