I bought that (suffering) the week it shipped. Man, what an experience. It is one of the few games I have yet to get for the Xbox, but I plan on changing that. I have been in love with the atmosphere in that game since day 1. Nothing touches it in its atmosphere department.

Yeah it's a great game, definitely one of the more fucked up stories.
The fight with Hermes Haight remains in my memory as one of the more haunting combat monologues.

Which one was he, again? It has been 2-3 years since I went through the game. Was he the guy made of green gas?

Yeah, the former executioner.

What'd you think of the sequel, dethy? (Suffering 2),
june gloom on 3/7/2009 at 16:18
Gameplay not as good as the original but the story is beyond warped and possibly even more depressing. (The story of what happened with the starving folks at the mission during the Depression- something tells me that has a basis in reality.)

The Suffering (1) is free nowadays.
Amazing! I rented this game for PS2 years ago and did nothing but play it for a whole week until I completed it the day before it was due back. Absolutely sucked me in and pretty much convinced me that not all console games are bad! :laff:
