I imported the midwife sounds to Thief. It's working fine, but it looks like I need some custom voices, too.
Does anybody know how to change the voices in order to sound like midwifes (metallic). I guess an audacity reverb can do it, but which one? Maybe someone knows.

I've only played SS2 twice but I sort of remember their voices. Let me dig into the SS2 resources and see if I can find them. I'll post back.

Interesting. Russ and I incorporated a very similar thing into DCE. He did all the effects for it, though. We never actually used the stock SS2 sounds, we ended up making our own.

Getting all of that is going to take some effort.
First you have the bleeps and bloops that need to be layered over the voice. A careful inspection of all the RES files might yield a section of a wav file you can use for this or you could dig up your own or make it. Any 1980's hand held electronic toy would be a good start.
For the voice I'm hearing....
1) a slight slow rate modulation effect....phasing would be my guess but just a touch...not too wet.
2) a good sized room reverb mixed not very wet.
3) also the voice might be slightly pitch shifted. Probably not much more than a semi-tone. Not so much for the pitch shifting but for the way pitch shifters of era that colored the sound.
4) the slight stuttering sound or "pop" at the leading edge of each word...I'm not sure.
Of course it all starts with an actor delivering the dialogue correctly.
I was referencing MW1BOD_4.
Tell you what. For a group of people with good ears and knowledge of sound shaping tools, electric guitar players are a good bunch.
My buds at...(

Post a few choice wav files there for inspection. Just tell them what you're up to. They're (for the most part) a good bunch. I'm SlyFoxx there too.

I watched youtube video of them and heard that they seem to have kind of distorted sound. You can make that kind of distortion by setting the volume limiter to somewhere +20db and then lifting the gain to such numbers also => it will clip and distort it like hell, then you just route it to another limiter which sets the distorted stuff to listenable level.
It also sounds like it has very reverby tone in it (tailless reverb).
Then you also need to have alot of stuttering and beatmasher effects to make the "glitchy" sound. There are many different ways to achieve those kinds of effects (I think i actually heard some kind of reverse there too).
Rest of the sounds are just added effects.
