deth, I dont know if I trust anyone with creative. I dont know if they'll spawn massive diamond cache for themselves. I was however considering using creative to make a pretty spawn, but at the same time that kills the general idea of the server. I might just have to man up and make it myself... or maybe we can make that a community project.

The problem is that you don't even trust yourself, hence you don't trust anyone else. :p
I think a possible solution would be not to just give someone creative powers, but to make the spawn point temporarily alterable -- in other words, normal like every place else -- while someone, or someones, sets up a "reception area" of sorts. I envision it being inside a well-lit shelter (fuck coming on at night and getting blown up) with a small supply of wooden or stone axes to get started, and possibly a message board that can be altered.
Maybe also a place for "respawn kits" for people who inevitably die horrible deaths because of creepers to quickly suit up with some low-grade equipment and dash off in search of their stuff.

Optifine is out for Minecraft 1.0 I was like great lets make Minecraft look nicer but run slower :( when I stumbled across this (

Anywho, I have been a long time fan of texture packs, but I've always gravitated back to the default texture pack due to its undeniable charm, so I decided to "fix" the one thing I dont like about the default pack, the 4 tool/weapon types looking exactly the same with different colors. So right now I'm working on editing them, I'll post screenies when I'm done, and the zip if anyone is interested.
Edit: Ok, done. I'm no pixel artist, but this is what I came up with:

Hmm, this default texture pack modification idea turned out way better than expected. Made arrows look like arrows... made bow completely wooden. Looks great!
And Vern, you're in.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: It has been pointed out to me that these screenshot dont look any different from regular MC. I realized that compression/etc cause the particular details to be lost. Listen, just take my word for it and install Optifine.

Well, someone took a bunch of Iron and Stone Bricks I was making from my house (on the bluff near spawn across the sky-bridge). I hope it was useful to you? At least ALL the Iron wasn't taken.
Kinda wish Minecraft would include individual-only storage ala Terraria's piggybank.
Also, is the bounty on Gold Nuggets still valid? 'cause I can provide lots. I'm "Zercius" in-game.
