If you already have 1.8, it will auto-update. If you have an older launcher (without the news screen), you need to re-download.
FYI: I made a set of stairs down from spawn to the little town you guys have going.

Well, someone took a bunch of Iron and Stone Bricks I was making from my house (on the bluff near spawn across the sky-bridge). I hope it was useful to you? At least ALL the Iron wasn't taken.
Kinda wish Minecraft would include individual-only storage ala Terraria's piggybank.
Also, is the bounty on Gold Nuggets still valid? 'cause I can provide lots. I'm "Zercius" in-game.
Well Zerker the issue is that you made your house right next to the spawn, with a passage leading up to it. Kinda looks like a noob area.
Anywho, the spawn will be moved soon, and soon as bukkit is released I will look into addressing some of these concerns.

Yeah, I'm not too broken up about it. I put a sign up now ;)

The power of Minecraft.... 2 year old game, somehow still manages to make me argue with myself "Skyrim or Minecraft?"
Edit:
Ok, guys. I really need your participation now. I have roughed up a few peoples feathers by yelling at them/banning them (when appropriate) for fucking up other peoples shit. I understand creepers are unfortunate and not entirely your fault but still, would it kill you to fix whatever damage they cause? The chance that you will be completely unable to avoid a creeper explosion while standing close enough to someones property to cause damage isnt that high, yet somehow everyone manages to loiter around someone elses house when magically, creeper. And then they get upset if I ask them to repair the damages. It's not like creepers do -that- much damage anyway, you'd have to replace all of 4 or 5 blocks probably. It's a courtesy. But so far the way it works is people tell me someone blew up my shit D: and then I have to be the arbiter of justice. Someone bombed dethtolls house again (why, WHY dethtoll?) and -also- trampled his gardens.
The sad reality of this self moderated community is that -everyone- is either too much of a dick, an imbecile, or a noob to function properly in said society. Were this a deserted island, you would all have to live in opposite corners of the island, completely isolated, and probably starve to death.
And frankly I can't think of much more of a solution for dethtoll than to move! And to not make a pretty house that invites gawkers to ssssssssmuggle creepers in. I dont know. I need you guys to start moderating eachother, or else it's just me being a tyrant. Either that or we're all going to have to form clicks right away, and go far the fuck away from spawn.
I can deduce, by looking at the logs, that Vernon was likely the culprit in this, however I cannot say with utter certainty so don't go lynching him just yet.
So the input I need from you guys is this:
Is it too much to ask players (even new players) to be weary of creepers when near towns? Is it too much to ask that people stay the hell out of other peoples houses? I usually dont mind this, but if you cant manage NOT to lure a creeper right up to it, you shouldnt be allowed near it.
Is it too much to expect people to be conscious of the damage they might cause directly or indirectly in game and, at the very least, admit it? Is it really that difficult for someone to repair the 4 to 5 blocks that got damaged during an unintentional creeper explosion?
How should we handle these situations? Basically, the community needs to come up with policy. Because as is right now I'm just the police, and I dont enjoy it any more than the people at the end of the banhammer do. Help me out here? I wanted to keep the server as vanilla as possible but it seems if this community cant manage to stay practical I'll have to look into plugins that force peoples hand a little.
Edit: The most obvious choice seems to be to disable creeper explosions from affecting geometry. I will never, however, nerf creepers from the game entirely. I enjoy them too much.

Alchemist - from what I've seen on the server, it is passing_by who is intentionally luring creepers to other folks buildings. While, as you say, sometimes it is inavoidable and the responsible party should just repair the damage, he is at least one person who was boasting and broadcasting his intent of destruction.
I like the self-moderatedness of this server though. Someone snuck into my house and changed a Work in Progress sign to Bumholes or something. I lolled. A little harmless mischief from an unknown entity - thats fine - but ultimately, we're gonna have to turn to you to wield a banhammer at some point anyway to deal with regularly vindictive individuals. Griefers gonna grief.
I suppose this thread is as good a place as any to report problems and discuss bans - but I think we should keep speculation out of it. That is to say, unless you witnessed someone being a prick, don't go accusing them.

Here's the whitelist as is. I removed passing-by since he's not a TTLGer and has caused trouble.

Take a screenshot of said items, and post it here. First screenshot on the forums takes the prize. I cant offer the prize more than once, since I have to collect the ingots myself, so first to provide receives prize then challenge is over.

EDIT:
World is back up.
For now, while we discuss it, creepers dont cause block damage, and mobs/people cant trample crops. I disabled those because I see no practical use for them other than griefing.
PS: I'm very proud of the development going on near the spawn. Good stuff guys!

Actually, I just gave them to you in-game, but I can certainly provide a screenshot of more.

Nobody build on the large area near the original spawn hill I've been flattening -- I've got plans for that, and I'm posting here 'cuz I'm at work and can't check and Alchy's comment has me paranoid.
You build on it, I'm tearing it down and the stuff you used in construction is mine.
