How is the lag? I know that travelling that far a distance screws up rendering scenery and stuff.
Minecart travel is substantially smoother than before, I think. I remember travelling from the treehouse in boomtown to blanktown and enjoying all sorts of bizarre glitches (for instance, the track ending and the minecart falling off, only to pop back onto the track like nothing ever happened once the next chunk loaded).
Right now, it's still a little choppy but still perfectly usable.

Oh boy, that's bad. :erm:
@BH: Yeah about that google map. I was wondering how you did that. Is "minecraft overviewer" the name of the mod or whatever you downloaded? I wouldn't mind making my own of that. I do have a cartograph program I downloaded a long time ago for singleplayer worlds, but I wouldn't mind messing around with the google one.
By the way, I noticed people keep referring to the abandoned towne past the Alchemy Tower (near the giant pyramid) as "blanktown." I just call it Old Towne but if no one wants to call it that, just know that that is what I'm referring to when I'm talking about it.
@bob: What do you mean halfway tower? Don't you mean the Alchemy Tower? That's the tower I know of with a dungeon below it or mine. The other tower is before you get to the alchemy tower, and I still don't know what to call that. (It's the tower next to the mob spawner that has torches around it in a square shape.)

http://i.imgur.com/5ENTB.jpgBlanktown is not Olde Towne. I'm not sure if anyone else calls that place Blanktown, but that's my name for it (iirc, when you arrive by rail, a sign says "welcome to ______"). Bullshit Bluffs is where monterto and I have our mining outpost. I'm guessing the little town near ours is called Vinlandia -- there's a sign nearby that says "Vinlandia Spawn."

Thanks boxsmith. ;) That picture should be on the first post. (But smaller so it doesn't stretch the thread.) So yeah, I was thinking about Old Towne, not "blank town." Sorry about that.
edit:
haha, just looking at that picture it's a bit funny how noticeable that pyramid is compared to the rest of the world. Just stands out so well. :)

Damnit, hopelessly addicted again...how did this happen? :wot:

The pyramid is quite useful; I have my base & tower near to it and its obsidian base can be seen in the distance to show my friends (non-crafters) what people can do. After the initial "wow"s I finally show them the map - "See the pyramid there? Now you get a sense of scale."

OK, the lag on anodal is just too frustrating. I'll try out necival's when I get permissions, but I have yet to see anyone playing there.
Anyone know of any other decent servers to try out?

I'm on necival's from time to time, can't say I've noticed any lag there.
Other servers:
play.got-blocks.net you'll get banned if you fly though
2b2t.net - anarchy server posted on v and b

Does the overground train thing link up to my subway somewhere? I seem to remember that it does but I can't remember where.
Also, I gave up on using boosters on my subway line. Just way too glitchy at the time in SMP.
