I guess he is like the '10's John Carmack.
Minus the really-obvious-but-never-admitted-to Asperger's.
And I mean legit Asperger's, not "I need an excuse for why nobody likes me on internet forums."

Hmmm, I bet one could make a good argument of there being a decent number of undiagnosed Sperg Lords in Thiefgen.

I saw these guys on Youtube going around and creating havoc in Minecraft. It really cracked me up. They were making it rain lava, deleting the raised platforms players were on, and my personal favorite:
They tried to block out the sun near the area where players respawned. Their intentions were to have tuns of monsters spawn there and slaughter players the moment they respawned... lol!
Another favorite was when they were digging holes under players to drop them down, where they would dump lava in!

lost_soul it's spelled "tons" not "tuns." Every time you spell it that way a piece of me dies.
Stop fucking doing it. I beg of you. Please.

Here's my thing- I'm all for one or the other. But the bullshit that made me leave anodal was because the way I see it, the two don't mix, and that's apparently stupid.

If you're not massively into the sandbox aspect, then Minecraft gets very boring very quickly. This is a welcome addition, imho

The catch is if the XP are going to mean anything, then obviously some attribute has to be dynamic, health, crafting skills?, tool use? But then it's not just you in the world. There's all this baggage you have to cramp into do everything the game affords. I guess someone in the comments summed it up in it watering down the purity of the whole formula. You notice it even now when every time you start a new world, it's sort of silly you're getting achievements for crafting basic stuff when you've been playing the thing forever now. It's almost alienating. With the XP it might just amplify that... like logging in months of game-time only to be perpetually treated like a beginner every time you respawn.
But whatever... As long as they playtest it so that it's actually fun, then it'll still be a good game. And you could say you're gaining as much as you're losing in the deal, since you have more of a "direction" to go in. Be good if they can balance having a direction with not perpetually alienating the player from his character or the world. Also the option of different modes, sandbox & adventure.
