Oh yeah I've seen that endermen video. I kept wondering how the fuck that guy got 1.8 before everyone else. (Unless it is fake, but it looks so real.)

Nah it's fake it's made by the Machima guy and is obviously not 1.8 the hunger bar and the xp bar are missing. However I hope notch sees that video and implements that great whispering sound.

EDIT: Oh so it is "1.8 part 1".
It's taking me a bit by surprise, I'm not in Paris right now and don't have much time/bandwidth to administrate the server. If the update comes tomorrow, I can't promise a fresh world including the buildings saved from the old one until late in the week-end.
Is there a complete feature list of 1.8 part 1 and 1.8 part 2 updates somewhere? Is it worth waiting for the latter update?

Afaik, all of map-gen was pretty much completely rewritten (fractal based instead of berlin noise + new major features) - most, or most likely all, of that should be in part 1.
Probably not worth the wait. Part 2 should only contain add-on style stuff (ie. non worldgen) that they did not manage to squeeze into part 1.
edit: looking more closely at the list i found this (1.9 aka part 2):

1.8 was never considered the final release, it's just another patch of the Beta. At least that's my understanding. What hits on 11.11.11 is the "final" when it goes out of Beta.
So it looks like 1.8 part1 might not come out this week after all.

Damn shame :( Jeb is all alone doing the last minute playtesting. I hope he feels satisfied by tonight to put it out tomorrow. :( If not my weekend plans are shot. :P Might have to go out or something. :bored:
Also as I understand it, 1.8 comes out then 1.9 to finish it up, adding the npcs and what not. I hope the exp we earn is accumulated until they add whatever stat/skill tree they plan on adding. I imagine that version will be 2.0, which should be the official release ie: Minecraft 1.0
Edit: I just read that something to apply exp to will be added in 1.9. =o
