People would pay me and any associates I can con in regular fees based on the size, complexity and risk profile of the construct (ie bridges built out of TNT -> astronomical fees), and when disaster strikes I'd reconstruct it to the best of my abilities or return the fees if I'm too inept or don't have time to play. Seems like it might be pretty fun. Of course it doesn't work as long as duping can be done since the materials don't have any value so it's a bit one-sided arrangement at the moment (I'll still happily fix things, but without any commitment).

Great! And if TNT ever gets enabled again, we can easily turn it into a protection money racket by handing MrDuck some explosives and sending him over when someone falls behind on payments.

Also, BH, humbly speaking...I think that whatever has happened with griefers, to take away features from the game....well....sheesh, I won't call it an extreme measure, I understand the logic behind it, but I don't think we have to let those little shits take that away from us, no matter hoe temp.
We were talking about a spawnjail, or somesuch, until a person got cleared (or limited access), dunno, more viable solutions, methinks :)

I am going to be hard on myself and stop forcing my views on everyone else. If I had it my way, everything I would do would have no impact on the ability for anyone - even not from TTLG - to join the server and build whatever they want, even if there are assholes. Spirit is "Free to join / free to build" and I wouldn't even have removed the server name from any place. To be perfectly honest, compared to what I'd like, I find what we have today to be a good compromise.
But! Not only did some of you give me money to maintain the server but you all have built a lot more than me, this is your server as much as it is mine. So I'll soon put a public poll (if I won't be totalitarian then let it be fully democratic) to know which solution you all prefer.
Right now at a hotel, working far from home, drunk and not able to do much admining.

When someone starts griefing it's easy to go overboard and start restricting things left and right, but in actual practice I think that keeping the address word-of-mouth only is probably more than enough.
