The last few times I attempted the TTLG server, lag drove me away. It'd be cool to play again with you guys, but I don't know that I could get a stable session out of that server.
Me and some friends are trying out IndustrialCraft 2 and just managing to break into the "industrial" part.

What ever happened to necival and his server? Did I miss a post of his? That was used as a second place to go for TTLGers. There's also the option of creating your own server and having others join it.

Yeah, necival and I discussed opening the server again but I didnt want to detract from the TTLG community, last time it kinda split the MC group and that was no fun. Before, we had a reason to make another server, it was SMP vs not, what reason do we have now? Is the new server going to spark new interest?

That was quite a big issue for me too - but the latest server seems
much better in that regard. It's not always perfect and there was a specific problem with experience orbs as discussed earlier in this thread but the days of struggling to do anything creative seem to be in the past.

Which is why I suggested another server, since some folks can't really play on the anodal one. Then again, those folks could just play singleplayer, but if they want multiplayer that's obviously not a solution.
OR
Maybe the server just needs more ram?? Another thing, for those that are having lag, have you guys tried lowering the graphical settings to see if it's game lag more than it is server lag?

I put my view distance to Tiny and it makes no difference, I sit around staring into a blue void waiting for chunks to load. I die instantly if anything attacks me, I hear the death sound repeat 10 times all at once and bam, I'm on the floor.
Sadly, Necival's new house has bad internet, HOWEVER, we both have access to rack space that is equipped with a 1GB fiber connection (Level 3), maybe we can hitch it on there... maybe.
By the way, Notch is releasing 1.9pre3 tomorrow. Not sure what it'll have, maybe enchanting. I know potions are still out while jeb tries to figure them out (Cant stack duplicate potions created from, same ingredients in different orders or potions that have the same effects in different orders. They should just be unique if they're unique....). Also, notch posted this and no one knows what the fuck it is. (
