Is the 404 like an intentional middle-finger to all of us, or was there an actual video this was supposed to go to and you cut off the video tag in the address?

Kind of got the urge recently to fire up MC again - anyone here still running a server, or maybe know of a good one to join? Interested in survival mode, but it would be nice to have folks around instead of playing single/solo.

Let's officialise things a little bit.
I host a Minecraft server on the domain swankybonitaknickers.net which has become the
de facto official TTLG buildy-thingie. As edwardhugget put it in the general Minecraft thread, it "has a really good community spirit", some of the buildings there are admirable and for the time being, it's griefer-free (not MrDuck-free, though. Beware!). Simultaneous population reached a milestone of 10 a few days ago.
So, first of all, feel free to come visit us (PM for Address) and build your own designs or contribute to the existing almost-fully-functional alpine village. For the existing members, feel free to post your screenshots and stories in this thread. I figure we could leave the other thread for more general Minecraft-related discussion.
The server is a virtual dedicated machine 'boasting' a constant 5Mbps bandwidth, excellent availability and,
thanks to some very special members' generosity in this thread*, a grand total of (soon to be) 1 280 MB RAM.
I'll be implementing a Google Maps-style Cartograph-style export, along with better backup and admin options, and maybe a webpage with real-time statistics. Expect more news soon.

ENOUGH TALK. LET'S GET TO YOUR PICKAXES (and screenshot keys).*The great 2010 MINE-4-RAM fundraising drive harnessed, on 2010/09/25 00:30 GMT+1, a total amount of 185€, leading to a total of 176.17€ after PayPal took its share. Each 256MB share was 71,76€.
I know that I played this game a very few times. I sucked at it majorly. I would like to play but don't know if I would be allowed to. I'm not employed so me donating to this server wouldn't work wel. I don't like not being able to help but I do like being friendly and meeting new people. PM me and we can talk about an arrangement if nessassary.

Fizbop, this was posted in september 2010. Since then, people have moved and the server was stopped.
Brethren, I'm not sure whether dethtoll's server is still up, I hope someone can enlighten us. Mine isn't and, although it sure would be nice to be playing some MC again, I have no current plans to reboot it.

I'd be willing to spend a couple of bucks to feed the habit in the short term, can anyone recommend a decent hoster? And for 1-5 players, what kind of specs should I look for?
Edit: On the heels of that, I should ask - would anyone else here consider playing again?

Question to everyone: I don't play this game (right now), but my 10 and 7 year old boys are EXTREMELY obsessed with it. They have been playing the XBox version for sometime and got the PC version about 2 weeks ago.
Problem is, they want to use the game primarily to build - they are also Lego freaks. But it seems like all the servers they join are designed to benefit the players who like to grief, poach, etc. with a lot of combat going on out in the open, rather than being confined to an arena. As a result, they're getting very frustrated with gangs of higher level players constantly killing them and taking their stuff. It's not so much that they mind combat, it's just a distraction that prevents them from building as quickly as they'd like.
So, can anyone recommend a server that's more focused on building, has some room to build, etc.? They've become quite good builders. Also, it would be nice to have a place where the chat isn't filled with people telling each other to go fuck their mother, if you know what I mean - they're still kids.
Any help is appreciated.

Not off hand. The problem is unless your running the server yourself. You may run into those kinda things. From what I know the person that runs the server can get rid of those kinda players. However, if they feel they want that kind of thing they don't have to. just my 2 cents.
