Using duped materials isn't the most satisfying, but it is a kind of compensation for griefing and (especially in the early days) losing all your stuff to crashes/bugs. The time spent re-building would have been used on more productive things.
Without duping we would also face depletion of rare resources around the centre of the map, which would have interesting consequences.

that day will still come, when we run out of even the duped resources we managed to gather before the great fixing.

I think in our server's case it's stopped being about the mining and started being about the crafting. Seriously, we're getting some Elder Scrolls shit going on here.

I get a kick doing what -I- want with what the game lets me do. Whether intentionally or unintentionally.
If duping and providing stuff and having time for my creative (or not-so-creative) projects is my thing atm, let it be.
When the bug is fixed I'll happily return to Mining and crafting and such :).
All I want is all features back, plz.

Gunny, I'm still here, albeit limited with baby #2 popping out any day now. My log in is 'Hotzu'. My server was just a place holder while BH's was down in the early days. After MrDuck blew it up the second time it went down for good.
I'm trying to get some building done, but I usually end up just wandering and staring in disbelief at some of the crazy shit you guys are putting up.
