Oh yeah, I recall someone saying that cells are only active when someone's near them, so even if it seemed to only just have happened when bob came around, the fire would've been waiting on hold for someone to log on after the hypothetical arsonist left.

I really don't like this new server. It just ain't the old one :( Too spread out, and less communal. Consequently, it's hard to get the inspiration to build something spectacular.

I like how watery it is, but it does spread things out. And I think people maybe wanted to get away from the spawn area in order to avoid griefing, considering how much of it we got in the old world towards the end.

I totally agree. When the 31st rolls around, start a new one and if we get islands at spawn again, just build a road to a nicer area. We could also build towns in multiple biomes linked by teleporters. That would be fun too. I hate to say it, but I think Flint and Steel should be completely disabled too. It's just not worth having some builds getting destroyed because you want a pretty fireplace, regardless if it's a bug or grieving.

Nuh-uh.
I'm sorry to see that somehow grieving still goes on, but I'm totally against disabling game features due to one or two shmucks pissing on our works, but we already talked about this....crippling the game for the sake of "safety" is a no-go. At least I humbly am against disabling features, but that's just me.
We still have other options, I'd rather try'em first.

Grieving is not really a problem right now - i would say current methods are more than enough. Well, fire IS broken (way too fast), but then again - there is only one dethtoll :p
btw, ANT & CO - good job fixing the damage, could hardly tell the difference.
PS. flint and steel are irreplaceable! what else would i use to torch snafu? :D ... hehe, fun times.
PS2. i seem to have a monstrous lag lately (10-60 sec). ping is consistently between 70-100 and no bandwidth problems either. Heard some have similar problems and some have no problems at the same time. Any idea what could be wrong?

Halloween update seems to add so much that a new world might need to be created anyway. The question I've been musing on is: what about mobs? The update seems to imply that the survival challenge will increase, so will we have a survival server or stick to safe building? I suppose it depends on the fine details.
