I agree. This new place has something the last one sorely lacked. I think we can really make something out of this, especially as we expand further into the valley in back of town.

so has anyone figured out whats causing the wierd lag spikes on the server? The whole reappearing blocks are annoying enough but when entire rows of stuff I have mined just reappear it gets kinda old fast. That and tryin to talk through "Burst" chat (IE lag making all the messages from the last 20/30 sec showing up at once) is kinda wierd.

It's a bug that was introduced in the most recent patch. Dunno if he's planning on fixing it or not, since it's the result of a deliberate change in the way the worldstate is synched between the client and server, but I find SMP practically unplayable because of it. Prior to the recent patch if you experienced a lag spike, it would just take a moment for the blocks to disappear. Now they permanently reappear, which is annoying. What's worse is that it happens even with a decent ping (100ms) and no packet loss to the server.

on a lighter note i am working on a massive project on my server and I have no idea what to do with it... its a 3 floor monster of a building iv built by hand and i need some ideas of what to fill it with. Ill post some pics of it when it gets closer to completion. If you wanna see it on the server let me know and ill give ya the IP.
Edit: Here's a pic of the main structure complete..... man my finger hurts from clicking
Im ganna calculate the square footage of the floor space tommorow...... er is it square block space?

It's gone. It was originally a tribute to the link between LGS (and by extension TTLG) and the server but I agree that it's probably now entering into the realms of 8 bit pixel art.
The latest world seems to be far more cohesive than the last and some of the buildings that people are putting up are very impressive and although different from the "Alpine Estates" of the original world it's approaching that sense of community again.
It's too bad really. I had no problem with the logo, in fact it made me smile... Just another reminder that the server was indeed a TTLG one.:) I'm not quite sure whatyou mean by the "latest world" but I assume you mean the transition from the old map to the new map. I've only been around for a few days on anodal, so I missed out on a whole lot.

Gimme seasonal differences divided by month a la Quandary and I'm all over it. Until then I'll take my cherry blossoms and autumn leaves any day.

just as an update to the HQ building im working on..... took 4048 dirt blocks to cover the smallest floor..... not 400... 4000, my fingers have fallen off. I think I broke the right click on my mouse as well
Edit: and now my HQ has Neon Strobe lights :D

You do know there's an easy way to lay down blocks in a line don't you? Just point slightly downwards, hold right mouse button, then move backwards. Save time, fingers and mouse buttons.
