I'm still not sure what the cause of it is, but it is definately network related. Only started happening recently, but I looked it up online and apparently I'm not the only one having the issue. Lots of people have reported it. I found a fairly lengthy thread about it (

Quite a few people suggest it is a network card problem, but I don't think that's the issue.

My friend Fuzzymath has the same problem, and it's not his spawn point because I already cleared it out.

Try this as well. Similar to the fix zombe linked, but change instead the Speed/Duplex entry. You may have to experiment a bit to find the correct value, but I set mine to "100 Mbps Full Duplex". Not sure if it's the same issue, but it used to be impossible to play for me. What's worse it actually kill my system's internet connection that I have to disconnect and reconnect my router. Now I can play for hours on end.

No one ever uses the chats for any of the TTLG Steam groups so we could just claim one of those in the name of Minecraft.

I tried the buffer thing, but it didn't seem to help. Though I didn't reboot after changing it, so I don't know if that made a difference.
In the picture below is my wireless card's Advanced tab settings. What the people were talking about in that thread didn't really apply, accept for the buffer part obviously.

I see yall talking about chats and stuff, iv got a 40 slot server iv had up for about 6 years now. If you wanna come hang out your welcome to. Just be warned that long phonetic names / general douchbaggery arn't well liked. Not sure if I can PM yet but im a little weary about posting it on the forums :). If you see me on the server ill be more than happy to give it to ya.

I had this happen a while back. I ended up uninstalling Java and Minecraft entirely and reinstalling. That's what fixed it for me.
