Damage and mobs will be fixed in the next update. I'm looking forward to neither.
If mobs are enabled, can creepers please be excluded?

I don't like the idea of creepers blowing up our stuff.
Plus, my current project has involved a lot of TNT and falling. Time for BH to implement that survival/creative cycle idea, maybe?

I'd still say it'd be fun....sure, a bit scary and nerve shattering, but man....fighting against the horde! :D
We should at least make a small attempt to play with creepers for a bit :)

Considering how much work I've put into the Uni alone, creepers would be enough to keep me off the server forever.

Hmm, I don't know how the server software works, but hopefully BH can just keep it the way it is, if he so chooses.
As far as I know from playing singleplayer, creepers don't spontaneously explode, they have to see a player and go after him or her. So while being afriad of them messing shit up is certainly valid, as long as you can stay away from them it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know what all the angst is about. It's not like it's hard to keep your projects safe from baddies.
* Keep it well lit
* Put fences/cacti at the perimeter
* ?????
* Profit!
And it's not like we wouldn't immediately build item factories out of any dungeons we've found, keeping us all flush with arrows.
Give it a chance, I think the added danger will make it more fun.
On the other side, I don't think we should allow mobs right away, because knowing Notch, there'll probably be some pretty serious bugs. But as soon as they're stable? Go for it.

Lighting is as much an aesthetic as it is a necessity, IMO. I say no mobs save what comes out of spawn cages.

Creepers tend to sneak up on people, so you can't let anyone look at what you've built without risking losing your work.
If we restrict mob spawning to cages I'll be happy. That way we can control where the mobs spawn and build as usual, or make dungeons for the adventurous. :)
