Hey people. I thought this TTLG server was supposed to be a hip, happening place. So why the hell am I by myself?
I'm home with the folks for Thanksgiving. I'll be back on next week to see if I can stop my roller coaster from glitching out on the uphill section.

I can't pick up any items for some reason, so I think I'll wait for that to be fixed before I start playing again. :)

Box, if you don't mind losing your inventory, I can reset your character from the server database.
As for the server being empty, I guess that's a combination of broken updates, downtime, non-fixed bugs, real-life and lack of continued creativity. That last point itself warrants that people will start coming less & less and then slowly come again after a while.
As for me, I'm really holding out for working survival, which is perfect because I clearly had no time to play recently.
Re. Re. Re. Re. survival VS. creative, I want to highlight that this is all purely theoretical talk, as it is getting more and more obvious that working survival won't be ready before at least 2 or 3 months. Right now, we're playing survival alpha without enemy mobs. I turned them on for a minute with an (unfortunately) awful timing as health was broken and monsters started becoming invisible, which explains some people lost their inventory and started throwing a fit. I know a lot of time has been invested in minecraft but that kind of thing should be expected.
Anyway, now that client-side updates are optional, I suggest that we wait for a few days until there is enough feedback to switch.

Box, I believe that's lag. There were a few times I'd run over an item, and it wouldn't pick it up. After a couple of seconds, things went back to normal.
The only strange thing that happened to me tonight was I couldn't harvest stone while Duckeh was on. I'd chip away at a block, and...nothing. As soon as he left, though, things went right back to normal.
And after 4 hours of work, I'm almost done with my little tower. Duckeh gave me a goodly amount of stone to start off with, but I still had to mine twice as much more to get to the point where I'm at. I'm thinking I'll be finished with it by tomorrow.

Pretty sure it was because he died - known problem. Happened to me too.

I will make the client updater ask the player before applying new updates. Automatic forced updates are scary, and they were only in because they were convenient and I never thought about it.
Awesome.
I think based on the current state of minecraft that the server should just stick with "creative mode." Perhaps once minecraft is beta (or later) we can revisit the idea of survival via a poll and/or discussion.

Ugh, getting the "can't pick up items" bug. Killing the client/logging back in doesn't help. I fear my player file may need deleted - I've put my inventory into a chest in case that's the only solution.

Is it just me or are arrows just bouncing off stuff right now?
