What's the address for Necival's server? Have to play somewhere until this server updates to beta. :p

However - it is still pretty much lag-dead atm :(

From the desk of the infamous Fuzzymath,
For this holiday season I give unto you socket errors. Socket errors everywhere!
I have gone back to SP until these connection issues get corrected. While messing with SP I have dug to test out the new mineral spawn formulas. In my exploration I have found they are very much improved. I am constantly hitting deposits of 8-20 blocks of coal, and Iron is very easy to find as well. Given this development, and the patching of drop repairs, I have decided I am going to venture in to lands unknown to continue my building when I am able to login again. It simply does not seem sensible to stay in any part of the main that has already been generated with the old spawn formulas, when we will be needing so much more iron/etc for replacing tools.
My new site will be marked by the creation of a stone cathedral and a small collection of wood dwellings. I do not want to attempt to create yet another stone monstrosity of a castle/keep/etc. We already have Bob's, and it worries me that he could at any moment declare siege upon the community's keep from within his endless expanse of wall.
Also, if anyone can find my old southern hold, at F3 prior to the warp wipe, please set a new memo for it. I have given up wondering to find it. I do not want the building itself, and do plan to level it when found, but there are two chests of supplies (wood mostly, from my wildfire) I would enjoy having again.

P.S. Bob, I hope you like chickens.

Well. I just got home something like 14 hours after starting the map upload and its completed 78000 pf the 110000 files. this is ridiculous, so i'm cancelling the upload here. the map works for the most part. however i have to find a better solution for mapping the server. it took 6 hours 20 minutes just to create the map... and would have taken 24 hours to upload it to my web server.

i apologize for all the lag-death time.

Necivals server is blocking me and BH's server is outdated. =/

There's a new server & client version out. NEW! IMPROVED! SHINY!
And with a lot less lag and server item duping fixed, or so they say. Can we has it?

My testing results on necival's server:
* armor damage is in - armor degrades from fall & enemy damage (probably everything else too) :)
* no drop item repair-bug ... altough ... i did pick up TWO copies of the dropped item up once - so, something fishy there :erg:
* storage boxes are safe - clicked around like mad and did not lose nor gain anything - however, opening inventory lags annoyingly and you spill some stuff when you leave the box-inventory screen when it has not managed to sync it in time in the background :erg:
* players crafting grid can not be used as storage area anymore :erg:
* leaves fall off if trunk is gone - even when touching stone :D
* tool item damage bar is broken - it often shows no damage - seems to be a visual glitch only :(
* mob damage animations are in - very helpful feedback :)
* hit recognition for sword is client side - :D - no longer do you have to point at the enemy at the time hit animation gets to server. Now, if you hit it - server will accept that you did!!! THANK-YOU-THANK-YOU-THANK-YOU :D
* mob prediction is better but still bugged (mob jumping is still jerky) :erg:
* bow is still lagged as arrow spawn is still completely server side :(
* some digging lag/bug seems to be introduced - blocks reappear momentarily and lighting is wrong for a time. not sure tho what causes it :erg:
All in all - good update i'd say.
edit: Damnit ... erm ... i mean ... yay! ... another ... um ... THREE! ... updates while i was not looking x_x.
edit2: notch should really not update that often - kind of kills SMP. I would prefer less frequent updates with more changes and some QA on his side first.

Seems i was not the only one complaining ... or something:

Here’s an idea!
* All commit comments are public to everyone. Possibly even tweeted out
* Everyone who has bought the game can download the latest nightly build. These will almost certainly be quite buggy.
* Before doing a release, we make a special Release Candidate build. You can download these as well, and they’re supposed to be not buggy. (But they will be. ;))
* Once the release candidate works fine, it will be released as the new official version. This will probably be once or twice per month.
This would be perfect! :D
