I've been playing alot of single player lately. I started in front of this double waterfall structure overlooking a giant bay, it's pretty epic. I'll put some screenshots up of it later.
Additionally, Eldron I love your texture pack and I have some sweet uses of it to show you. Once I get those screenshots up you'll know what I mean. My only minor complaint is with the sandstone look. The side texture brick look is a little harsh imo. I'll show you what I mean when I'm not at work.
How's the server lag? Last time I tried to play mobs would wipe their asses with me from 25 feet away.

Minion21g: It's very difficult to avoid taking damage when fighting mobs. You'll more than likely just be exchanging blows for the bulk of the fight, particularly with spiders since they're so fast. I'm fairly sure this is universal in minecraft multiplayer though, and it's actually not all that bad. It definitely makes armor and food more useful since you can't simply kite everything without breaking sweat.

I found the best way to deal with mobs is immediately build a wall then a tiny room around yourself, drop a chest down to hold all your stuff, have a window to fight them back, or push the room out a space at a time to build a hallway to the spawn cage if it's that situation. (Although granted lag is going to suck whatever you do.)
@Jusal, I don't know what you mean by kite.

demagogue: As I understand kiting means timing your strikes and/or backing off at just the right moment in order to fight something without taking damage (though correct me if I'm wrong). I suspect the expression has its roots in MMORPG slang, but it has started to show up a lot in gaming in general. I just eventually picked it up.

What a great spawn point, minion! Great floors, as well. :thumb:

So I dunno what the deal is, but I'm not allowed to open anything in the spawn shelter, and the doors won't open from the outside either.
In other news, I died and had to use the high road (the cobblestone walkway in the sky) to get back... well on my way back I fell off twice. :(
(first time because a zombie managed to be up there, but the torches stopped at the area so it must have spawned on the cobblestone. Second time was because there was a spider up there and he knocked me off. Sigh.)

I say make bomber pads and TNT'em from up-high.
Also, who is playing regularly on BH's?
Alch, you still around?

Really nice!
Good feedback on the sandstone too.
Here's something I'll have the pack in a future update for those who want to bother using the patcher so custom water can be used:

Nice :)
I am reminded of Zelda, oddly enough.
