Thanks for introducing me to this game guys, I'm blown away. So are my friends. I'm going to set up a server for us to roam, but is there a TTLG server for us taffers to play together?

Did you pre-plan it? Looks bloody huge. Also, that is a lot of lava! How many buckets and how many mess-ups?
Huge, yes it is. That was the idea. Actually, my main "theme" for this was building a structure that uses virtually no torches for lightning, so I had to put lava everywhere instead :D And yes, completely pre-planned! There's no way I could do that without obscene amounts of precise plans... especially making sure no spot is left too dark for mobs to spawn. Lava-transportation: I used twenty buckets. There were lava lakes directly under the castle (I'm a lucky bastard), but I managed to somehow dry up two of them before I found one that wouldn't run out. Lava isn't an issue once you find an infinite pool of it; I was having more problems with sand, which I needed to fill up the water on the build area and for glass.
Mess-ups... oh dear. Too many to count. :D The most annoying would be my inability to follow my own blueprint. Even though I made a huge 5x5 size grid for build navigation (you can see it in the last, inside shot) I still couldn't avoid messing up the count, so the main tower itself isn't completely symmetrical. This in turn made the towers' bridges turn out weird (nothing like realizing a bridge is three blocks longer it should be when you are about to be done :nono:). I would also have issues with leaving holes in the structure during build, and only realizing it when lava begins to flow to places where it shouldn't be. Did I mention I used a lot of burnable materials? The pain. Making the internal lava decoration inside the structure was also huge amounts of... fun. Then the usual "falling into lava and waving bye-bye to diamond tools" mishaps...

We had to destroy the shaft Duck, as the burning blocks were causing frequent lag and even server crashes. Once we got rid of it, the problems disappeared.
I don't know who set your cock on fire, all I know is that after I'd finished putting out the fire in my tower, I poked my head out only to see it already up in flames.

Bullshit. Unless the server owner says otherwise, I call bullshit, good sir. Also, I'm building a stone one :)
So, fu :D
You HAVE to put a lava fountain at the top.
Well, if lava were predictable, anyway.

Click the Customizer link and pick dark green leaves and olive grass. Looks much better that way imo.
Lots of options :D ("Turn off the cloud layer" - sweet!)

@gunsmoke
Right now, 298 of the 512MB are allocated to Java (not really close to the 1GB "requirement").
I'm renting a (virtual) dedicated server with some of my friends so the only way to get more RAM is to pay ~140€/yr for an additional 512MB :(
Not happening atm, though if no one comes up with a better dedicated hosting solution (or Notch doesn't optimise his code), I may just have enough money lying around in January.

Well as long as nothing CATCHES FIRE the server seems to be okay for now.

What's the deal with people obsessed with building giant phallus in minecraft?
Because you can?
Are you part of the group that just draws ejaculating cocks in iSketch? Its funny once but then it gets boring if everyone does it.
Things like the eye of sauron and the winding village are more impressive and add to the atmosphere.
Put your talents to good use and build stuff that isn't a gimmick?
A shipwreck? An underwater ruin? I dunno.
I guess there is limited purpose to building at the moment, just your own satisfaction, as no mobs etc., but they will come in time.
p.s. And why cocks? Where is the boobie love? *sigh*
