I'm really not looking forward to torches being limited-lifespan. I have about 2000 of the fuckers on my sky fortress, and god knows how many down in the mines. :-/

I'd heard that the update is going to be converting all already-placed torches to lanterns.
This was from someone else and not an official source, though, so it might be just hearsay.

They don't have to be placed. All existing torches will become lanterns.
