I still don't know how to get into the caves... :(
Hint:
Look behind the stack of crates and make a good use of your sword (bash the door) :)
The_Dude on 17/12/2005 at 23:32
Do I have a sword? Shoot!
The_Dude on 17/12/2005 at 23:58
OK finally finished this one and did like the ending, very good indeed. But it took me ages to
highlight the map.
:nono:
And the secret? What was that all about.

Well I don't wish to be negative but my overall impression of this contest was of "style over substance". Though if they were really all built in a week (which I just can't believe) then they are all very impressive.
The biggest failing with all three was the frustrating gameplay:
Citadel had a crazily placed
lockbox and key.
And what was the purpose of the blackjack?
Winter Holiday was just too hard
I had to cheat to fufill every objective
while with First Day of Winter I just had no clue what to do.
On the plus side First Day of Winter was simply stunning to look at especially the
waterfall and the house
and had a great ending. I also liked the simple story and design. It was great fun to throw the nifty lantern into the fireplace and see
the fire ignite.
Grate stuff! But why make the map so hard to pick up. :grr:
Winter Holiday was also very aesthetic though the sound got on my nerves especially after the four hundredth tour of the building! The plot also made little sense and it was incredibly frustrating to play.
Citadel was a simple design which worked well and I liked the new skins with the wooly hats oops I mean helmets.
:D

I'm playing first day of winter and I am
swimming around in the caves. completely lost. I got into an area that said "found secret" but there was nothing there to actually pick up or frob.
Any help would be appreciated.:tsktsk:

I've just counted that the authors had exactly
11 days to build the whole mission. That's why I also think all those missions, in sipite of unbalanced gameplay, are impressive...

Yes, but it was not so hard to get them. Shadows were placed properly.

Well, I only had real problem with entering the house and Bafford objective. And it was SO obvious. :)

Hmmm... I had no problems at all. You just have to crouch.

This mission is very funny in... polish. It has references to what's going on now in Poland, therefore foreign players might be confused.
BTW, do you have any ideas / suggestions who made these missions? :)
When you climb down the ledder, you have two options: go left or right. In one of those directions there is a secret. In other direction you can find the cave with three chests. Swim there.
As for the secret in The First Day of Winter:
The author told me that this tunnel was supposed to lead to thieves hideout, but he did not have enough time to build this. But the "secret" remained...
I received 5 votes from TTLG so far. Thanks! If you played the missions and like / dislike them, please vote. The more votes, the better.

To prevent it to be picked through the chest, before you are even aware that it is there... (oh, that dark engine... :tsktsk:)

OK if the authors only had 11 days to build these then the First Day of Winter is a flippin' masterpiece!!!! And the other two are good efforts. I'd like to up my scores a little!
Are these all first time builders.

No. At least one of the authors is well known here... :)
And one of the missions is the author's first release...
