Minimalist Project: 1.4.1 - Minor homepage update. - by New Horizon

Had a few Eureka moments over the last few days.
1. Woke up in the middle of the night and suddenly knew how to make the weapons cycle in TRUE T1 and 2 style. They no longer slide in from the side. Instead, I realized I could use the Z axis and put the dormant weapons underneath the selected weapon...but so far in the distance that it would take them long enough to reach the front of the screen that there would be no overlap. Give it a try, you will see. :)
2. Fixed the issue with the new Health gem shields taking over all the models that share that gem: health potion, hammer wands.
Achieved this by adding the health shield texture to the editor. I then had to comment out the hud gem model in the ibt files and change the hud gem texture in the gamesys to point to the health shield texture. Then a dynamicallyloaded static mesh folder to load the hudhealthgem model is placed in the content folder. Long winded...but it works.
This would also make it possible to reskin all the loot in TDS so that it doesn't require loot glint. I might do it...but then again...that would be a HUGE project in itself. Might just leave that for the FM authors or include the improved textures in my upcoming T3Ed automated installer.
3. Increased the hilight distance for doors ever so slightly. I found the distance to be a tiny bit too short when compared to the previous games. It sits somewhere inbetween TDS and T1/ 2 now.
Available for download at the usual place.

I should test my FrankenThief demo level with TMP because it includes a script that forces third person for the matinee sequences. It'll be ugly if you see Garrett with that nasty glow. Did you look into that yet?

Possible for no Loot Glint? You, sir, have made my day. :thumb:

Haven't had a chance yet but it's next on my list. :)

It would make my day as well. :) Just not sure how much work it would be yet to make this for the original missions. Fan Missions are completely different. We can just take the existing textures and repaint them to look more looty and them import them back in so that it doesn't affect other items sharing the loot textures and make them look weird.

Force damnit, NH! How can you make TDS so great and at the same time make it unplayably difficult like this?!
You are forcing me to have the original installed with its lousy textures and worthless enemies in oreder to be able to play beyond the first few missions. To know Minimalist is out there and not be able to play it is horrible!
What is it going to take for you to reduce the sight and hearing of the enemies?? They increase level by level you know. I've had Shalebridge patients see me leaned against a wall in pitch darkness from four metres away!
I never beg, but....PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!
....
Hmm....

LOL I'll do some more testing for you. ;) It's hard finding the right balance for everyone. Some people thought it was just fine when the settings were 2 or 3 steps higher than they are now. Upon looking at the files, I realize that the settings I meant for this version were left out by mistake. The corrected version is now uploaded. The vision and hearing is only a slight bit higher than TDS's original expert settings. Hopefully just enough to get you sweating.

I would personally like to see a version of the Minimalist Project which makes all the UI changes (which I love) but which optionally leaves the difficulty levels alone, both in terms of the objectives (loot percentage and the like) and the sensitivity of the AI.
Not that I expect to get that version.
