NH, could you possibly release a scaled-down version that contains only the changes that directly affect gameplay? I like the play styles, the guard sensory boost, the guard stamina, the flattening bug fix, etc., but I actually prefer the default interface, briefing font, and the like.
Sorry, I can't say that I will at this time. It's a lot of work managing a single build and the purpose of the project is to give a unified whole, not parts. :)
That being said, I have just updated 1.4 to include edible food. Food will now be stored in your items and if you're hard up for some extra health, you will get half a point for each item you eat. It's a minor detail but it's another detail that adds to the continuity.
New version is at the same place.

Just a question, but has anyone had any trouble blackjacking people now that the raise blackjack animation is gone? For some reason there have been lots of times where I was pefectly lined up on a guard, was within blackjacking range and thwacked them on the head to absolutely no effect. This has become really agrivating and it's starting to ruin the gameplay. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is there some sort of maximum range for effective blackjacking or something?
*sigh* If only blackjacking in Thief 3 was based on actually hitting guys on the head, not on getting inside some ill-defined "blackjacking zone" behind the enemy.
edit: Nevermind, I figured out the problem
Mind telling me what the solution is? I'm having the same difficulty, I can't blackjack anyone. This game really needs analogue control, I can't sneak up on anyone without having to tap walk over and over, and even then they don't go down quietly.

Yeah, people. If you ask about a problem in the forum, then figure it out on your own, at least follow up with what you did to fix it, so the rest of us know. This happens a lot on the forums, it seems.

I just went back to Thief 2, and... *oh god* it's like liquid... I am getting frustrated with the controls of T3... It's going to take far more than the Minimalist project to get me back into this game... it seems every time I try to start it up again, I spend so much time trying to tweak the damn thing to taste that I never get into it. I've played that stupid first level so many times that I'd be quite content if I never saw it again.

Yes, I would be curious to know why Vigo and others are unable to black jack people myself. I don't seem to have any problems with this on either of my installations.

Just curious if anyone has tried the latest version with edible food. I'm wondering if I made the food too useful. Currently it gives you 1/2 a health point for each piece you eat. I think Thief 2 was 1/4 of a health point. Let me know if you think it's too much.

I'm trying a little something to make the first level a little less painful. I'm trying to take it off rails. If I can get my tweaks to work, the training popups will not pause the game and will slowly fade out over an 8 second period. Should be enough time for someone to read them. Although I'm not even sure they're needed in there, since I'm not sure a newbie would even use the Minimalist Project.

Well, it was mostly based on the very high difficulty settings The Minimalist Project installs. They're all set at 3.0, which essentially doubles the difficulty of the default expert mode. :O
My problem is that when I'd creep up on the guards, even on carpet, their overly keen auditory sense would pick me up. Then they'd stop in their tracks and do their "did I just hear something" bark. I used to think this a was a good thing because it meant I could catch up to them while they're stationary and knock em out, but whenever I tried to do it they'd just shrug it off, then turn around and beat the crap out of me. Eventually I got the idea that guards are unblackjackable when in this stationary listening mode, so I went into the default ini and lowered their auditory factor and ever since I haven't had the same trouble.
edit: Oh yeah, that reminds me. The change has to be made in the ini. I tried using Thief Bot but it doesn't seem to work with this version of the Minimalist Project.
