Just tried it out and realised Thiefbot isn't capturing Thief anymore and changing the settings has no effect :(
I tried uninstalling Minimalist and running thiefbot.
Firstly - it seems that several elemants of Minimalist remain even after uninstalling (and after going through a load zone) - the health gems are back to normal but remain on screen, the game menu options are not visible although you can still click on them if you can guess where they are, and the nasty gears hub is gone still.
Anyway, I don't care about all that but Thiefbot still had no effect and was still not capturing whatever it normally captures.
I wondered if the changes you made to the visual/audio sensitivity could have interfered with what Thiefbot looks for so it can't find it to change it. And maybe those changes are not uninstalled too when Minimalist is uninstalled?
I appreciate you wanted better sensitivity from the AI but is it necessary to have it incorporated in Minimalist when we can use Thiefbot instead?
I don't know exactly where Thief Bot looks for such changes unfortunately but I know that the level of difficulty set within the default.ini would have no effect on Thief Bot. I'm guessing that it's because of the rebuilt .t3u files as there are considerable changes that are unrelated to the difficulty settings. An unfortunate side effect. T3Tweaker won't work on the new custom gamesys either. As for the settings that you have left behind, that should not be. What version of Minimalist are you using? That was a symptom on an older version that I experienced myself while testing but it has since been remedied.

Hi NH,
a few questions. I must admit I didn't try your minimalist project as of yet :erm: This is because I have customized T3 on my own and I like the changes I made, BUT... I also like some of the changes that you made and of course, some of them I don't like. I'd like to ask about the features I'm not well aware of. :)
1) Weapons exposure: is blackjack included?
2) Frob color: I'm using John P.'s subtle brown color. I can't stand the original blue. How is yours?
3) I still want to be able to use a custom GameSys, where I can set the amounts of items in my inventory, my equipment, item prices and the percentage of loot. Is it possibile?
4) I still want to be able to use Thiefbot custom difficulty. Your "Enhanced AI Sensivity" may not be enough for me. :) My conclusion is that it is not possible. Right?
5) I like headbobbing. How much is it reduced?
ah...
6) The numbers of the item in the hud. Once the item disappears, the number follows, right? It doesn't stay on the screen.
Thanks taffer

I have the latest 1.4 and I always uninstalled previously before installing any updated minimalist.
As it happens I can live without Thiefbot with the default settings you've implemented and personally I'm not going to be playing without minimalist anyway so the issues with the original verion of the game aren't a problem either :)

Cool. I'm going to have to look into this though and see if I'm getting the same problems here. I'll have to try it on a fresh install..in case I've missed something.

Blackjack is the only weapon that doesn't increase visibility, just like the original games. :)

It's kind of a light gray color applied to the item. Fairly transparent.

All done within the gamesys but unfortunately the gamesys tweaker doesn't work with rebuilt gamesys files. If you have the editor installed, you can make further modifications to the gamesys though. :)

You can still alter the AI, just not with Thiefbot. From what I've heard, there are enough changes to the existing system that Thief bot can no longer find the appropriate information. You can still change the levels manually from the Default.ini file though. :)

Really, it's not reduced so much as it is compensated for. I tried to make the cameral a little softer so it would absorb the bob and not be so shakey. Hopefully it's smoother and more enjoyable.

Only the icons disappear but this also depends on which version of the hud you choose. With classic style, the items and weapons are always on but with "minimalist" style the items slide off after being selected. The numbers do stay on the screen though, so you are aware of how many items you have left.
Hope that clears everything up. :)

Huh, I'm really tempted. But I didn't like your answers. :( In the pdf you mentioned that you made some changes to the animations. How different is the Garrett's movement? Did you get rid of the "puppet animations"?
Fallen+Keeper on 20/4/2005 at 20:49
Ok, I installed it :) Heh, I love the new movement. It's still not T1 & T2 but at least it's far from T3. I really love it. I like the old, rudimental hud and many other details, but still I have to see everything :) What I don't like? You should not write Minimalist Age everywhere, it's a bit of contradiction if you're a purist. I don't want to be reminded that I'm playing your mod, I want to be reminded of T1 & T2. At least this is the purpose of this mod, right? Then the controls. Creeping is too fast.
Also, I remember I altered the ragdoll physics in order to increase the "weight" of the models, but I don't remember where. Any clue?
EDIT: Done.
For the rest... as I said I still have to see it. Nice work anyway. :)

It wasn't meant to be taken seriously but in fact was meant to remind people of Thief 1 and 2. I was hoping that people would get a kick out of the nod to "The Metal Age". :) I hope people don't think it's to toot my own horn. :D

I don't recall where the setting is right off the top of my head. I'll look into it though.

No problem, buddy. The tiny holes that I don't like can be filled by myself quite easily. I'm really enjoying your work. :) Thanks.
One last thing: I have a custom main menu where "Thief Deadly Shadows" looked quite good. Now it has been replaced by "Thief The Minimalist Age". No offence, but do you know in which file the string is? I want Deadly Shadows back :) :erm:

Hey new horizon would there be anyway of getting rid of the lock picking in TDS and having something like in T1 & 2 I just can't can't use to the new lock picking in TDS,it takes me a few minutes just to open 1 door or chest,it's just bloody annoying  .
