Mirror's edge, looks promising. - by Fragony

If EA manage to make U3E not shit, keep the game as relatively hassle-free DRM wise, and make the game not insultingly easy, I'm so there.
U3E doesn't suck, only the hardware that you've played it on does. Xbox 360 has a pitiful amount of RAM + no hard drive crashing - hence the texture streaming issues. Also we know all about your PC, Mr. Pentium D.

Then why is it that other PCs that by all means should not have trouble (i.e. they kick mine to the curb) have issues too? I'm not the only one with this problem; granted, I may be a minority but that doesn't invalidate my opinion. except on the internet
I'm sorry, but until I see an instance of a U3E game NOT being unstable the engine will continue to be in my book of things that suck, right under Ulrich, Lars and Ultima IX.

Oh man, do I ever hate episodic games. It's like taking a delicious meal at a 5-star restaurant, and slapping it into to-go boxes, then serving it over the course of two years. Completely destroys the game's sense of wholeness and grandeur... like the contrast between Half-Life 2 and Episodes 1-2. HL2 was grand and awesome, like a movie, because it carried excellent gameplay with a *complete* and engaging story... whereas the Episodes (to me - not speaking for anyone else here) were more like TV-show versions of HL2, with excellent gameplay, but just not enough length to carry a powerful story and *experience*.
Agreed. Though in this case (Mirror's Edge), it may be that they cut the story into three full lenght games, which would be slightly better than cutting it into three short games (HL2EP). Especially if the gameplay is actually good.

Don't know what you're on about, personally. True, I've only dealt with two iterations of UE3, in UT3 and BS, but I've had no problems whatsoever with either game. Delicious, stable eyecandy on affordable hardware for me.

Congratulations, you're in the majority of people who report no problems. I seem to have had the massive bad luck of seeing the engine being shit no matter what system it's running on and that has admittedly coloured my opinion of the engine a bit.
That said, it doesn't even do anything that hasn't been done before. I just wish devs would use something else, preferably something that Epic won't try to sabatoge.

Bumpity-bump! Some new footage as part of this week's GT TV. Nothing entirely new, and the contrast is freakishly high, but hey. If you don't want to put up with GT's coverage of the next Call of Duty (lol nazi zombies), just let the stream load up, then just click the marker just before the last.

Well, the guy on the radio exemplifies crappy voice acting.

That Mirror's Edge clip looked really linear, on top of being heavily scripted.
I'm glad that the PC version has been delayed to January. Having the reaction press and public reactions to console releases will help us make informed purchasing decisions. Even better if there's a playable demo released, I have both XBL and PSN.
On a related note, CoD5 is looking sweet. I'm a sucker for those cinematic war FPS.

Not to derail the thread, but that zombie mode is worth a buy on its own...

I reserved a copy of Fallout 3 yesterday. Compared to some of the crap I expect from that game, the guy on Faith's radio sounds like Orson fucking Welles.
Edit: Okay, that came out wrong...
