For example there's a guard next to a wall, if I run right at him I'll get hit, but if I run at the wall it's harder for him to aim at me, I wallrun on the wall, turn around, jump at him, and perform a sliding kick, enabling me to then knock his ass out or just disarm him and keep going.
This almost gave me one of those punch-through-walls erections... :thumb:

I've just grabbed it for the PS3 here at work and will grab it for my 360 tonight.
This is a great game. It's all about keeping moving and getting the timing right. You are weak as shit and can't take more than a couple of rounds before you eat it.
Alc's pretty much said everything else. One for my list, methinks.

Wow, so basically every nitpick anyone came up with from watching the videos turns out not to be true. Bulletproof or otherwise nonrealistic damage; nope. On rails:nope. linear;nope. Assassin's Creed-esque auto climbing/manouvering; nope.
*sigh* I can't get any more games this year, I just can't....nnngngngn

Very impressed by the demo. From What I've seen of this and other games so far, it seems like this will be my personal GOTY.

I just finished the demo and I thought it was very good. Has anyone tried the time trial yet? I'm thinking about preordering it for access to it.

Perhaps fortunately, the PC version doesn't come out until NEXT year.
And based on the few minutes spent with the 360 demo on a work friend's Xbox: Yeah, it's everything I hoped and expected it to be: Thief with an emphasis on running instead of hiding, hand to hand combat and movement with F.E.A.R's sense of weight. Day One purchase for me (and please give the PC version an editor for this iteration, I don't want to wait until Mirror's Edge 2 for custom content).

Maybe it'll get along better with my 8800 than U3E ever did with my 7600. Definitely picking this up.

I just preordered the game for xbox 360, and the time trial part is really cool, although I just barely made the cutoff time for the races they had available (2 of them). You can get up to 3 stars per level, with 3 being the fastest.

This demo is everything I'd hoped the game would be but was almost certain it wouldn't. I started by switching off the red path (the "runner vision") and just seeing if I could find my own way through -- it's definitely possible, but difficult. The player movement is so good; there's an amazing sense of weight and solidity to Faith, and the realistic camera movements make the game far more exciting than we had any right to expect (I especially love the jarring motion when she grabs a vertical pipe).
Also, since it's DICE (and they were so obsessed with sound and graphics in Bad Company), the footstep, grabbing and gun sounds are all crystal clear, and timed perfectly, which adds a whole lot to the sense of immersion. Firing the pistol at a duct made me wince, and the little sound of her hands pattering up a wall makes her motions perfectly clear, even without actually seeing them (though you can always look down at what you're doing -- the body awareness works wonderfully). The graphics are great too, crisp and clear and the motion blurring effects make everything feel urgent.
In summary, I am extremely impressed, and might have to go into debt for this one. Everything feels so fluid and natural -- this is the direction I've been wanting games to take for a long time. Here's hoping the rest of the game holds up. I'm also kinda hoping for an angry, philosophically-drenched storyline... fingers crossed!

Slight aside: does that mean you weren't impressed by
Bad Company?
