Mirror's edge, looks promising. - by Fragony

One thing that was kind of strange is that the yellow runner bags weren't really all that important throughout the game. At the start you need to get one and pass it on, but other than as far as I can tell you don't need to worry about them again, unless you want to unlock extra Achievments.
Also, as others have already pointed out: Just cause you run doesn't make you immune to damage from bullets.

Only for nVidia cards with Cuda chipsets, unfortunately. Still more awesome than console version, though.

I hate to say but I'm one of the only people who's not looking forward to this one.
My main issue is the camera, sure you get to use a gun but not often and free-running with 1st person is not a good idea IMO, makes me feel dizzy and if I tried to play it I probably wouldn't get far without dying a few thousand times just because the camera is so disorientating.
The indoor bits are a bit claustrophobic as well and like many people said it has a weak story.
To be honest the best free-running game is Assassin's Creed so far(the story isn't that great and gameplay is repetitive but it's so much fun to jump, climb, etc in it)
You sound just like a friend of mine who insists that the game being in first person is bad because it's "not immersive enough." Though he says that for every first person game.

The Radeon HD48xx series maybe the performance-to-price ratio king, but until ATI restore support for DX6 calls they can just go die in a fire. Thief 2 should be able to run at a constant 60fps without compromise, FFS.

Er... so staring at someone's shoulder the whole time is
more immersive?
It's taken a long time, but I think I've decided I hate third-person perspectives. All I ever do is stare at my character so that I never pay attention to the world. And I'm always trying to awkwardly turn the camera angle to get a better view. Mirror's Edge looks like it has a really unique and interesting environment, so I'm very glad they went with first person.
Dead Space is just ridiculous. A third of the screen real estate is taken up by Isaac's fucking shoulder. That doesn't make me feel connected to the character, that doesn't make me feel part of the narrative. It just makes me wish he would
get out of the way.

Note that this is a console port, designed primarily with panoramic displays in mind. If you have 16:9/16:10 display then you should be able to see everything.

Everything, including a whole lot of shoulder.

I am now in possession. Reviews complain about trial and error, but I can't think of too many action games that don't have that problem (even Gears 2, man it gets repetitive sometimes). And especially not platformers -- it's not like anyone begrudges Mario 1 because you can't run through it on your first try.
Felt like I ought to support the game before the price inevitably drops, at least to send a message that some of us still do care about immersion, especially through precise control mechanics.
