Mirror's edge, looks promising. - by Fragony

No, the PC version is entirely inferior because it lacks analogue movement. You no have sense of weight and realism otherwise.
Question of preference, I'd imagine. I find that in first-person games analogue-stick looking around gives me much less of a "being there" feeling than the absence of analogue movement.

I did actually find the thumbstick aiming to be too unsubtle when trying to shave off milliseconds in a time trial. I do think mouselook will be a major benefit for that.
I also can't ever remember walking, aside from when the tutorial tells you to.

Actually it was a sarcastic nod to myself.
Not that Eva's actually played the game or anything. The reviews so far demonstrate pretty clearly that most gamers don't have a great appreciation for the subtlety of Mirror's Edge's movement, part of which is having analogue control. I suppose it's a fairly even tradeoff though.

Ah. I did briefly wonder that, but I've had my sarcasm metre removed because TTLG kept setting it off all the time. :p
As you say, I imagine that the analogue movement vs. mouse look thing is roughly an equal trade-off and that it's also based on 1) personal preference/experience and 2) how well they're implemented.
I played some Splinter Cell: Double Agent on the PS 2 and while I'd need to play it for longer I must say that I vastly preferred having mouse-look over having analogue movement. Of course, that didn't help with the shoddy programming of Double Agent on the PC...

Analog, surely?
Analogue = mimic or equivalent of something
Analog = er.."not digital"
Sorry, carry on.

Possibly - I assumed it was one of those old-world vs. new-world spelling things, like dialog/dialogue.

My country doesn't use that bastardised form of English from the USA. Seriously, judgment?

Deal with it.

Lining up jumps was only rarely an issue even with the joystick.
True enough, it wasn't a game breaker but there were certainly enough occasions where I missed a jump, fell off a narrow plank etc for me to think 'Hmm, this is going to be easier on PC'. The loss of analogue movement is a shame but I think for the whole 'running/jumping/sliding under pressure' the increased precision of the mouse will give the PC version the edge.

Could be. I'd like to try the PC version, and I'd even buy it if user-content were an eventual option.
