Mirror's edge, looks promising. - by Fragony

It's not the game's fault if you can't time your jumps.
Yeah, this is true, I am in no small part struggling with it due to:
a) my lack of game playing for 3 years
b) my avoidance of console gaming
c) my general distaste for twitch-gaming
d) the controller itself
Still, it frustrates me.

I suppose my comments weren't meant to be specifically directed at you, but instead at all the reviewers who said kinda the same thing. They, unlike you, didn't take a big hiatus before playing Mirror's Edge.

fuck you, you broke my heart

And Pirandello-Krueger, The Boat, and Kate are sort of a one two punch followed with a swift kick in the balls of difficulty. The Shard was actually a relief after those three.
PK also has the single most misleading bit of level design in the whole game in that first room with the catwalks and the two SMG guys. Every fucking time I try to go off that first springboard onto the catwalk and disarm that gunner, and it never works. I actually checked a speedrun on Youtube and was like 'well, shit. I'm an idiot.'

This.
But I eventually did it. I jumped up, disarmed one dude. Hopped back down, hid til one of the dudes came a huntin', took him out, then slowly stalked the other two.

I think, and I could be dead wrong here, the point of the game is to run, no matter what. I never engage anyone. It's called the Test of Faith achievement. Kinda like ghosting, in a way.

Well, in the segments I just finished more power to you if you can ghost them - escaping after sniping the police convoy down the stairwell with eight or so guards between you and a revolving door ain't easy without popping their heads!

That was actually easier than it appears at first. Especially since you don't need to actually escape from them, because as you get to the door, the mission is over. Just run like hell and make jumps from staircase to staircase. You may take some damage but you don't need to touch a single guy.

The easiest way I found to ghost that mission on hard was to use the bits that are connecting the pillars inbetween levels. Jump over the railing, down onto the glass, turn around, jump over the next railing which puts you down a level, turn around, jump over the railing to the next one level, etc until you reach bottom then make a beeline for the door.

Yeah that's what I meant. It's been a while since I last played that level.
