Mirror's edge, looks promising. - by Fragony

I wouldn't mind them dropping the combat either. It broke the flow of the game almost as much as barrelling into dead ends in the interior portions. And when you had both of those combined... :erg:

You're right, the Test of Faith is just no shots. But I also try no disarms. Some places it's very tough. But doable.

I dunno, pulling off a section like in the garage where I'd run, slide under a pipe, immediately disarm a cop then turn run along the wall and wall kick perfectly another cop coming through the door was pretty freaking awesome.
In other news, I finished the game last night and have no idea what it was about, really. That said, I pretty much blanked the majority of the cutscenes because I was playing it in the living room with my wife and daughter pottering around.

I wouldn't want them to drop the combat in the sequel, but it does kind of need fixing. The weird lock-on system has to go, for one. And fixing the timing for the disarms is absolutely necessary. They seem to have set the animations so that when you're running full tilt at a guy they'll start their melee before you get to them so they actually hit you once you get there, and there'll be about 3/4th a second where they'll be in the initiate disarm section of the animation. If you're standing still next to a guy when he starts a melee animation, it pretty much goes straight to impact before you can actually do the disarm (unless you're using reflex time). See: that fucker on the catwalk in PK.
There are also a bunch of guys that won't attack you until they reach a pre-scripted spot, so you can't disarm them before then. Most of the time you can run right past them, but occasionally you'll miss a jump or something, and then you either have to deal with them, or restart.

Okay, I'm cursing myself for being incredibly vague. I meant the gimped gunplay, because there were times when the only thing I could do was snatch a weapon and shoot my way out. Those were the least fun bits of the game for me.

I did the test of faith on my first, and it was oh so awesome. Wasn't playing on hard, mind you, but still, it's like watching the real me in a videogame. Plus boobs. :D

It would also be nice if the tutorial or manual or whatever explained the gymnastic combat moves instead of just having abstract drawings of them in the loading screens.
They could do a Splinter Cell: Double Agent sort of deal, where they show a looping video of the move, with a description of how and where it is performed.

The Mirror's Edge tutorial fucking sucks. It won't let you proceed until you pull off the move 100% correctly, I hate it when they do that.

The wall jump near the end seems to glitch out a lot, at least on the PC version. 99% of the time I fail that I have no idea why.
