I'm in the library in the case out chapter of Thief II, and can't seem to find the missing "M" stack. What am I doing wrong? I've seen it before, but it's been a long time! How to?.......

The "M" stacks are supposed to be missing. You aren't doing anything wrong about that. You're not supposed to find them. The letter "M" stands for what's happened in the library.

Ive seen the missing stack door open and found the poor dead lovers. Don't tell me I'm not supposed to find it, I've seen it already!

Ignore the actual bookcases and look at the letters. Previously there might have been too many Ns.

First of all, calm down. Geez.
I answered the question you gave me and you said you can't find the missing "M" stacks. You didn't say anything about the hidden passage and bodies.
Are you looking for bookshelves with an "M" on them, or the passage with the bodies?
If you meant to say you are looking for the bodies, then you need to read all the books you can read in there, first.

You need to find and read a series of messages from the lovers. Then and only then will you find the "missing" stack.
It is not "missing". You are. Missing the needed items to trigger its reappearance, that is.
Stop looking for what you think you remember, and just play the game. You are trying to use your mental "walkthrough" and shortcut the game. Can't be done.

Thanks Blackman will do. Actually, I searched for all "glowing books" and journals, as I remembered to do. Yeah i figured I missed something.

I thought that the M stack WAS the secret room! Sorry! Didn't mean to offend......

:cheeky: No offense taken. I've replayed every mission and a goodly number of FMs many times. I find that forgetting what I remember from the first pass through makes the games more enjoyable, and, like you in this case, does not create the confusion when my mental walk-through loses a page or two. :thumb:

If it helps. . .this thread actually cleared that up for me as well.
*coughs* All this time I thought I was missing something in there. I read all the books, found the bodies, etc. . .but always thought I was missing something by not finding the 'missing stack of books. . .'. I mean, I knew it had something to do with the murders, but I never quite got the connection with the books that were supposedly missing.
Sometimes the obvious can be hard to see, I guess. :D
