"M"...for "Murder," heh heh. All that happened was the "M" stack's "M" plaque was changed into another "N".:p

Its nice to know. That 'M'ystery is finally solved. lol I can't believe that I never got it. But hey.
Seems like an odd way to hide a murder, though. I mean. . .seriously. . .wouldn't people smell that something was wrong? At the very least? I suppose the disappearances wouldn't exactly be 'suspicious' as there are a multitude of reasons people might disappear. But leaving bodies to rot in the walls of your home seems. . .odd. . .creepy. . .morbid. . .pick a word. lol

Ashton killed his wife and her lover, hid the bodies, and resigned. :)
Ashton's replacement, Philemon Abernathy, had to put up with the strange things happening in the library.
Don't worry. I was too dense to get what the "M" was about until earlier this year. :o It made me wonder if the other stacks the books were found in stood for anything else.

Oohh, it wasn't the house-owner? I have probably forgotten more of the mission than I realize, then. Been awhile since I actually played. That would explain it then. He probably didn't *care* if the bodies were found - since he'd be long gone by then.
And yes, thank you. That does make me feel better that I wasn't the only one. :) It is sort of a subtle thing. . .they have it set up well so you don't have to 'get it' to move on in the game, but I think it was the one spot in the whole game that made no sense to me whatsoever. (Then again, for a good while I had no idea what a 'stack' was either. I thought it meant a literal stack of books. Never heard that term before - though I have heard it since. lol I suppose it does mean that, essentially, but not in the way I was looking for that 'stack of books'.
See? Playing games. . .fun AND educational. :)

Yay! Glad to help.
What doesn't make sense is that the same scenario in the library plays out again in the next mission! A boo-boo. First time I played it, I moved the bodies out to where they "would be found" after I left, and was disappointed to see them in the secret place, again, and the ghosts of Lorna and Giles seeking justice again. That right there could feed the idea that eomeone in the household conspired with Ashton, but no other evidence supports that.
"Ash... You are a bastard."

Yeah. I think thats the one thing I DON'T like about the Thief setup - is there's no real way to carry over the player's actions to the next mission. I see their point for that one there, but it probably should have only been in one of them. . .maybe the second should have just 'assumed' that you'd done it the first time. (which, I'm betting most of us did. . .lol)
And yes, I definitely do remember that comment. Which I heartily agreed with at the time.
