I haven't seen any solution to the problem posted, so here's what I found.
When you flip the switch, Pomok the electrician (who is dressed as a guard) is supposed to walk out slowly to the power room and flip the switch back to on. However, in some cases, the switch will simply flip back on immediately after you flip it.
This happens because Pomok gets stuck on the bookshelves he is next to at the start, and the cause seems to be the length of time you spend exploring the Ivory Rose before you go down to the basement. The longer you’ve been poking around, the more time he’s had to slide toward the bookshelves and get stuck.
To avoid the problem altogether, use your mask fairly soon after you pick it up, and get to the basement as soon as possible.
However, if you’re already at the point of flipping the switch, and you don’t want to replay from the beginning, there’s a couple ways to solve the problem with DromEd. Open up DromEd and use the command edit_load_game saves/quick.sav to load the level.
If you’ve already flipped the switch three times, the next time will set off the alarm no matter what, so your only option is to remove the alarm links from the switch.
If you haven’t flipped the switch more than twice, you can simply move Pomok away from the bookcase. Use find_obj 576 to locate him, and then drag him to a different location. For example, you could just move him into the hall, say near the guard by the vault door. Make sure he is well away from anything he could get stuck on.
In either case, you probably want to test your changes in game mode to make sure things are working. If everything seems to be working, save the changes with the command edit_save_game saves/quick.sav and exit from DromEd.
When you start up the game and go to load your changes, you’ll see From Editor in the quick save slot. Load this and continue to play as normal.
Of course, while in game mode, you could just use quick save and then exit DromEd if you’d rather do that rather than using the line command.
