1 week ago, my computer:
-450mhz Celeron
-16mb Voodoo 3 3000
-64MB RAM
-Some bullshit soundcard
-14" bullshit monitor
Today, my comptuer:
-450mhz
-16mb Voodoo 3 3000
-192mb RAM
-Creative Soundblaster PCI 512
-17" Ergo 1280
- Before, I could only run DX at a playable framerate in 800x600 with all the details turned off and a muddled sound detail. Now, I can play it in 1600x1200 with full detail and some impressive sound! It's like a whole new DX!

I bet that larger monitor screen helps the immersiveness factor, immensely

How can you read the texts at 1600x1200?

Damn
I got a PII 400 with 192 MB RAM,
a TNT 2 Ultra with 32 MB RAM
some bullshit soundcard, but I use headphones anyway
and a good Belina 17'' monitor.
Dunno whether this has got anything to do with those Direct3D probs (I patched like a good boy, though) or not, but even in 640x480, with hardly any deatils on, DX doesn't run smooth. What's going on? Can anybody tell me what to do?

That would probably be the video card. DX is mostly optimized for Glide, and Voodoo cards are based around Glide. (At least I think i'm using the right names). I've never gotten around to downloading it, but I hear the single-player patch greatly increases OpenGL performance.
[edit]INTELLIGENCE!, names right[/edit]

Umh, actually Voodoo cards are optimized for Glide as far as I know. The Unreal Warfare engine is the first time that the engine code will be purely Direct 3d optimized...
We could really use a new patch! Didn't Epic update the original Unreal 1 game engine into the one used in Unreal Tournament? Things went much much faster after 2.25 patch or whatever it was called.
Give us "Truform" support to Deus Ex please!

Yes, all Voodoo cards used Glide, the 3dfx proprietary API. It went kaput when 3dfx did so all future cards will either be D3D or OpenGL (barring the development of a new 3D API).

Glide was the coolest. I Run DX flawlessly at any resolution. But i usually stay around 1024x768. Good ol' VooDoo 3 3000. To bad 3dfx went away... forever... I was hoping that Nvidia would incorporate Glide into their next video card but i guess not... Oh well.

Yeah, they should add Glide support to Geforce cards, it's their responsebility. They don't need to update the glide drivers, just add support so that old glide games can be played without any problems.
Since they bought 3dfx, why not use it to fullest?

I got a Duron 800 with a Geforce 2MX, and 1024 megs of PC133 Ram (that's right, ladies, 1 gig ) I am having overheat problems, though, and I haven't played DX since I installed the new ram (a few weeks ago). I'll get back to ya when I do. Oh, I was upgrading from 256 of PC100. I was getting OK performance, until my box got hot, so I had to stay out of open areas, or my computer lagged out. This didn't happen the first time I played it
