Oh no no no, I'm not talking about the env_map now. I'm talking about the water itself. :p
It's the shimmer you added to the new water that doesn't work out on some FMs. It's merely an aesthetic thing though, and it can be fixed editing the image brightness to remove the bright shimmer effect or whatever software was used to generate it. That's all I'm saying.
Or I could edit that out myself. It's nothing impossible, and maybe I could get it where it looks perfect for the certain FMs I'm speaking of.

Yeah, I'm able to open it up with GIMP just fine. I can work with it myself and see what the results get me.

What's causing all those ripples? :weird:

My thoughts exactly. Unless those are being caused by millions of invisible (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerridae) water skaters? Nah, That's just silly.

I was wondering about that myself. A couple of outboard motors?

The 90's.

Haha, i thought they looked kind of nice, but i guess that's not really how water would look onboard a spaceship, i'm thinking the water must vibrate a bit from the engines, but it probably wouldnt cause ripples like that.

Well, if you could recreate that texture, then maybe we could have an FM set in space where water ripples on-board the ship...
So... 3 Distinct Adventures two, in other words. :p
(Or an SS2 FM, of course...)

I'm surprised there's all this discussion about cubemaps and how to make them but there's no mention of the editor making them for you.

it's on page 3.
