Does it scroll in the old engine? Could be a bug in NewDark.

The thing that's always bothered me the most about game water and lava is the edge where the water and lava meet the terrain. When water meets an edge in real life the water deforms due to surface tension, and the deformed water reflects light noticeably so you get a visible edge where water meets a solid--like this:

Yes it would be the first thing i would adress if it was possible, unfortunately it's not.
ZB: havent checked if it's there in the old engine, but it sounds probable since the old lava hardly have any kind of animation except for some bubbles.

Well this is exactly why the secret society of Thief modders should work towards a plugin-system for a possible second engine release. Y'know, so we can add in things that the engine can load up (.dlls, etc.).
So we can create all sorts of things for the rendering part of the engine, or add support for different sound files, or whatever...
(Endless possibilities in other words...)

No. That would have to be done manually by the mission author. And it would be a huge pain in the ass.

Edit: I've noticed an interesting thing with the lava, once i start recording it with FRAPS it starts scrolling (see video), but when i stop recording the scrolling stops(!?). I think i prefer the scrolling, it looks nice, i'll look into it and try to make the scrolling permanent (i'm quite sure it's possible through some .mtl value).
Is the Flow Brush center within the Water (lava) Brush? If not that could be why it's not flowing.

Holy hell man this is awesome. :) I guess I'm 2 weeks late for this news but still looks awesome, brotha! This is definitely a new boost to Thief's atmosphere.

Well the lava already looked pretty bland in the vanilla game, so the results you've given us are pretty swell vurt.
My only complaint is that the new lava seems a bit too, um, pattern-like now. The old one was at least sparse in it's overall design (That when I looked closely at it, I couldn't detect any patterns). But otherwise, I like the quality in it and think it's some of the best stuff I've seen yet from you. Besides the new eyes of course. xD
I've gotta look into your other work in games. I was already impressed to begin with (despite, Y'know, the cut-out reaction that it's not very Thief-like) your stuff; but really I didn't give you enough credit for your work. Thanks, vurt! :D
