Monastery of st. Fera & Prisoner's Revenge T2 REMAKE - by Preno

Thanks, Preno! I've just downloaded the fixed version. Also, thanks for the tip about getting that key, Dafydd. I don't think I have the patience for it right now, though, so I'll stick to the middle difficulty so I have my BJ. I'm in a mood to whack some heads. :ebil:

Nightwalker and Dafydd,
I opened the door to the practice room quite a few times and the guards always alerted. On one occasion, they did not alert. I did something unique that time, but I don't know why it worked.
Assuming that it would take a while to sneak in there, I built a crate blockade and stuck the 2nd floor guard on it so he walked in place. On that occasion, when I opened the door, the guards inside did not alert for some reason.
Then I simply ghosted in and got the key. On some other occasions I just alerted them and hid for as while until they settled down, then snuck in and got the key.
I could not ghost the spiders and the haunt, but I did do them without damage. My trick was:
alert them and run into the room with the thin, serpentine walkway. They can't negotiate it and fall to the bottom, unharmed of course.:)
The biggest problem so far was killing the informant with the sword without the 1st floor guard coming in to fight me while doing it. That required
another crate blockade.
The guy was alerted, but he did not chase me.
These methods are patented, but you can use them if you give me credit. ;):D
I will report my ghost failure at EIDOS when I am done hunting for loot. Hopefully I can use my old saves with the corrected version.

I tried using my old saves with the fixed version but it didn't work. I don't have time to restart right now but maybe tomorrow.

Yes, right. Old saves don't work (the switch is missing), so I replayed it. I could not ghost the fighting room this time around. Previously, it must have been either a fluke or my imagination. I tried several ways to quiet the door, but nothing worked. I thought Preno said he made those guys hearing less acute. I don't detect that.
Anyway, I completed the mission in Impossible skill in Lytha mode, 100% loot, alerting five AI and killing the traitor. Time = 1:01. I thougt it was very challenging and a lot of fun in this mode.
I don't know about the T1 version, but I think the BJ should be absent in this version at Impossible skill. If the BJ had been present in Impossible, there would be no difference in game play between Expert (the middle skill) and Impossible. I also think that the current Expert skill is misnamed. Using the BJ, it might be Hard, but it is not too hard, IMO.

Ah, Preno did make some changes in guard sensitivity: he made the one who patrols past the traitor's room even more sensitive. So hypersensitive now, in fact, that he spooks whenever I kill the traitor.
Even if he's in the far room, and I close the door, he comes strolling back unalerted -- then stops in front of the (closed) door, looks around, then opens the door and looks inside.
Then goes into full freak-out mode.
Fine. Whatever. I'm out of this one.

Say it with me, now...
"No one may edit and re-distribute this mission without my express permission."
Ignoring things doesn't make them go away.
While I am nearly certain that anyone who made an FM for TDP / TG would be most pleased to think their mission was popular enough to warrant someone taking the time to buff it up for TMA, the fact remains that after a statement like that included in the FM's ReadMe any subsequent editing and redistribution of the mission is not entirely proper.
Obviously this is a weird grey area involving the intent of the ReadMe and the intent of the person who edits and redistributes the mission. No harm is intended (quite the opposite) and no credit has been lost. Nothing is being misrepresented and -- as I said -- I'm sure authors now-unreachable would be intrigued and pleased that someone modified the mission in order to enhance it and / or keep it alive on the hard drives of its fans.
However.
Slippery slope to worry about, and I hate slippery slopes as many if not all of us have unsound footing on occasion.
Hrhhm.
Myself, I would give this whole idea a bit of a frown, but a frown that says "Be careful what you're getting into" rather than "grrr I will aet you." Though Preno's intent and motives are fine, the product of that intent and those motives may result in us staring at a table covered in wriggly little worms that won't go back in the can later on. Probably won't, but I'm just saying.
I'm still trying to decide what my opinion is. At the moment it leans mostly towards "Hey, that was a good idea... but some of these pathways lead into nastiness. We had best not make this a habit until we've decided what the parameters of this kind of thing are. Explicit statements in what amount to copyright notices are bad things to start disregarding."

Dafydd: sorry about that. I'm not reuploading it now... maybe later. I'm surprised that you haven't already given up before. Again, sorry, I'm just in a lot of hurry lately and can't find enough time to do this. :)
GBM: as I said, I got my lesson - first ask the author, then do something. I don't know what I should of this either. I just released (with bugs, looks like) it because I didnt know what else to do with it.

What is the deal in the room with the 10 buttons and the wall safe?

I'd like to have copies of these but the links don't work. I wasn't a huge fan of St. Fera and I don't remember Revenge but I'd like to see them in T2- especially the rain. It WOULD be nice to hear from the original authors though. I'll follow the progress of this drama as it unfolds...
