it can look a bit weird to see all-new HD Guybrush with 4 frames of walking animation at first ... but I actually found that kind of cool.
That bugs me a little - I would have hoped for the more fluid animation of the latter-day 2D adventures like The Dig or Broken Sword. (or, er, probably monkey 3 altho i never played that). I guess it makes the on-the-fly switching easier? Or maybe more detailed animation was just too much work for a £7 game.

Seriously though, interested to see how they've implemented SCUMM with the touch screen interface.
I would assume it's pretty much like playing it on the PC. I mean, point and click would mesh quite well with a touchscreen. All that would be needed are a couple buttons for bringing up the verb menu and inventory.

This, more than likely.

For some reason, instead of letting you touch the iPhone screen to point and click, you have to slide your finger to move the cursor. It feels like using a really shitty laptop touchpad.

Well. That's kind of stupid.

Haven't you seen the commercials? Thats the only way to use an iPhone!

Well in the developer's defense, it's pretty difficult to do point and click with a thumb (there's a reason all the iPhone widgets are so large). If you want point and click, go use ScummVM on Windows Mobile device with stylus.
... which is a great way to play Scumm games, btw :)

I was playing this on the iphone yesterday (a friends, i would never get one of those pieces of shit myself) and while I admit it was cool to see MI on a mobiel device; and yes the graphics did indeed look lush...it was very cumbersome and took ages with everything on the tap screen.
I'll stick to my PC version thankyouvermuch.
Speaking of which; really enjoying my current playthrough; and I just "grabbed" Loom - going to give that a whirl after I finish this badboy.

Has anyone been playing Tales? I notice that Episode 4 of 5 has been released on Steam.

Yes, I have. dreadful controls, bad inventory management. Writing is "monkey-island-esque" with the last 2 episodes somehow reaching the level of the originals...somewhat. the humor/puzzles are there but the "soul" is not. I don't know what it is, I think mostly the boring, drab 3d character models and backgrounds lacking the artistic touch/vision of the old games. Also, reuse of same puzzle mechanics gets old soon. 1st episode is for free I think, if you are interested I still have some promo code left from telltale if you wanna get a copy.

Gonna agree with Mothra on this one. It's harmless fun, there are some chuckles, and Dominic Armarto is as good as ever, but otherwise it feels like a semi-generic Telltale game. Art style is kind of bleh, the pointless-pop-culture-references factor is as high as EFMI (the Pirate auction place is "YeBay." HAR HAR HAR), and the plot is dumb.
I'd say it's better than (from what I've played of the first episode) the Wallace and Gromit Games, but not as good as Strongbad nor Sam & Max.
