I'd love to be able to go to Dreckboun, Fendon, and Sunnyport, or any other place with "pits", to clean them out and get Ginny in real trouble.:ebil:
TDS introduced Rat Races, but did we see them either? Noooo.

Haunts and T1/T2 zombies FTW!
Haunts, because you can't lose them in a footrace, and the chains/insane sounds just freakin' cause chills. You hear the chains first, then the backward tracked voices... that's enough to make you dive for cover and wait until they appear so you can put a wary eye on them and make sure the coast is clear before taffing onwards..
Zombies are, well, just cool. They can't be dispatched with normal weapons which makes them a slow, persistent adversary.

All the beasts from T1 and 2 would be welcome friendly faces.
I so much as THINK I see any of the 'beasts' from TDS, I'm probably going to be pissed...
Hell, I'll probably be annoyed if it has glyphs... but then I probably won't be TRULY happy unless they retcon it so that TDS never happened... I think the only thing worth retaining from it is probably the lockpicking. FLUSH THE REST.

I didnt enjoy any of the beasts or monsters...
The most formidable foe IS AND WILL AlWAYS BE... Benny the guard *wipes a tear from cheek*
Seriously, the supernatural and weird are intrinsic parts of Thief, but to keep them effective it should not be overdone.
Undeads in all their different taffer hating flavours are interesting, when they show up, you inevitably are that little bit more careful, and jumpy.
But by the old gods please no bug men or exploding suicide froggers. Those were so lame, by far the things i care most NOT to see again.

I agree with not overdoing the monster thing, especially zombies & bugbeasts thankyouverymuch. I was never more than mildly annoyed with the frogbeasts though. I even felt kind of bad when I had to shoot them with broadheads to make them explode, but hey; it was either them or me, right? But without frogbeasts there'd be no frogbeast eggs and face it; those come in handy when you've run out of just about everything else. They also make a good distraction when you want to slip by a group of enemy AI (even the large Mechbots don't like them & will be distracted for a bit if you lob one or two eggs at them). Of course, sometimes I just like to throw a couple fb eggs into the fray & sit back & watch the fun. :ebil:

You know what could scare the crap out of someone? A ghost asks the player to please find the body of his friend and bury it. The player finds the body, picks it up, and at some random time during transit, it awakens as a zombie and begins thrashing the player character, screaming at full volume since it's right by the PC's ear. Biting maggots and flies spill from the gurgling screaming mouth and swarm the PC's head and shoulders. The ghost begins laughing.

Thats a sneaky ghost! One more reason not to meddle with the undead

Burricks, Haunts, Burricks, ghosts, zombies from Thief 1, Spiders, Apes and all Tricksters children and did I mention Burricks :) and Mages were cool except the one witch shoots moss.

Dia:
How's this for a new compromise... biting flies that come from maggots in corpses that became undead. A zombie stumbling around with flies coming out of holes all over it's body; an eye-socket, an ear, a missing cheek, the trachea, a hole in the ribs, the guts...; and swirling around the zombie like the one zombie in Cragscleft that had a "bug halo". :D
Fiction-wise, they would be undead flies that attack the living for the same reasons as other undead, and not be able to reproduce so they don't spread. They would be destroyable by all methods used on undead, plus they would only have one hit point and so they would be very easy to eliminate.
And there would only be one such zombie.

I could live with that jtr.
But I just wish I hadn't read your seriously graphic post before breakfast.
