Yep, the zombies in TDS looked more like starving elderly people who have gotten their teeth stuck in their throats, gurgling as they are running towards you, desperately trying to get you to help them. Those misunderstood, pathetic people. :(
The first time I went into St Edgar's cathedral and saw the zombies in the cells, I swear it never crossed my mind they were zombies...I thought they were lepers or something

I voted for.. mm,
Burriks,
Because there are so many references made to them throughout all the theif games its really sad that there wasnt any in TDS, I dunno its not that i thought they were overly cool as enemies, they were just different. But because of all the references to them i think they deserve at least some appearance in Thief 4.
Spiders,
Spiders are horrid horrid creatures, and some of my most aweful (in a good way) moments in T1 was having no broadhead arrows and trying to fight giant spiders -on expert difficulty- with my sword, while they are leaping into the air over my head making me duck and turn and scream. (yes i actually waled a few times when fighting them, like propper 'man scream' *shudders* )
people have stated they are boring, and used as a kind of staple enemy, while I agree, i think spiders were done wrong to start with. Spiders should be able to move anywhere even on the ceilings and walls of caves, they should strive to activley hide in shadows becoming invisible, making no sound at all unless they are in combat with you, doing all those dreadful (in a good way) hissing and gurgling noises. so no ambient sounds, no movement sounds.
Imagine walking into a cavern after escaping a burrick swarm by the skin off your teeth, you duck into a shadow to wait a few moments before moving on, you hear a violent abhorant hiss and you start taking damage and you look closely realising you are sharing the shadow with a massive spider that had been lying in wait!
or again you are walking through a cave, no signs of anything infront of you and behind you is clear too, then suddenly something has landed on your back! jumping from a shadow in the ceiling you didnt see or even think to check due to the silence in the room. :wot:
also spiders should be able to see in the dark, and being that they (as i proposed) are silent, they wouldnt just give them selves away so you can sniper them. you would have to check, EVERYWHERE, in case of spiders lurking.
I just think that would make spiders truely worth the come back, not just if they are prancing around at floor level making hissing noises so you can easily see and kill them a mile away.
Rotten Zombies
these Zombies are the scariest zombies i have ever played against, i see many call them annoying etc, but as the only way you can kill them was with fire or holy water, if you dont have either of those, it doesnt matter how annoying they are, you still have to be careful, you cant just get your sword out and rambo them with a bit of luck and skill like most other enemies.
and the sounds they make, god... they chill me to the bones, definately want these to come back, not those fail running zombies in TDS.
there needs to be more enemies that can simply not be killed by conventional means
T1 Haunts and Apparitions
these both go in the same boat as far as im concerned, and that is the "scary ass unforgettable shit" boat, nothing in my playing games has scared me more than these two back in 1999 when i first played TDP, the far away wailing reverb backwards voices of the ghosts is just a horrific masterpiece, and the dark upclose brutal reverbing backwards Hammer Haunt voices are in the same category.
the thing about these i didnt like (from one perspective) is that they can be killed with simple sword strikes, or just 1 to the back of the head, i never understood why a ghost would even be hittable never mind succepable to melee knifery, as well as a undead hammer weilding zombie, if its a zombie, you may strike it down shame on him, but if you think hes out for the count, shame on you it should get right back up and... well nothing because for me at least if they would have gotten back up after i just built up all that courage to go and smack him over the head, then the load button would surely be in use the very instant i saw it move again. :cheeky::p
Elementals
I never really had a problem with the Elementals as enemies, they were always easy to see, hear and kill which was a shame, if they come back i hope something more interesting happens with them

Spiders are usually easy to kill as long as they aren't as large as you. also you don't have to duck when a spider jumps at you.
although i'm not sure i think the only time i really saw a spider that was larger than me and alive was in an FM and the spider couldn't even reach you. if you want to know which mission that was it was a T2 FM called "arac attack".

The spiders are pretty easy to take care of if you have broadheads and a good vantage point

Actually that last one is better for the Haunts when they attack

I think haunts should have their basic laughter as they are chasing you, but would get these sudden fits of insanity as they attack, and a change in their laughter would reflect that. Also their attacks shouldn't be so close to regular swordfighting, but rather more like mad flailing and strong, two-handed blows that shatter the floor plates as they miss.
