'Twas incomplete, surely thou know that polls include mere 20 options. The one thou speaketh 'bout hath incorrectly separated things without categorizing similar beasts, thus resulting in many being left out. :joke:
Also, the poll started by me asks thee whether thou prefereth creatures from ye olde T1 and T2 to the ones from TDS or not.
Taff this Hammer talk is irritating, isn't it? :cheeky:

FYI, there's an option named "Giant Rats from TDS "
Could we please leave the Giant Rats in "The Princess Bride" and not see them in Thief 4? Thanks!

I agree that the rats in TDS were kinda lame. They were too funny for their hideous eppearance. They should have been more beast-like and unfamiliar, with no weapons and without them speaking panglish.

I actually sort of liked the Giant Rats. Sure, they could've been a little... more... I dunno, wild, but they provided a cool little 3rd side in the whole Kurshok vs. Pagans thing.
Plus, one thing I really liked about the Kurshok and Rat Men were that they were so incredibly tall.
Kind of a break from the normal heights.

I think that they should only have a select few return. What was so fantastic about the creatures was that OH SHIT feeling that you got seeing them for the first time. I think a few could be redesigned quite a bit to give that feeling again, but I'd prefer they focus more on new creatures to get that same experience across again.
I think that giant spiders are a pretty standard enemy that doesn't really need to change too much, perhaps the ability to traverse pre-spun webs to attack you would be cool.
Other than that I can see zombies returning, because they pretty much epitomize Thief horror, as well as maybe treebeasts popping in for one section.

I wouldn't mind if just about every monster from the first two games make a reappearance, but that's unlikely to happen. In particular, I'd primarily like to see the original undead and the bots. Fireshadows as well, because they were grossly underused.
Though I don't really consider them "monsters" per se, I also wouldn't mind a little expansion on the Kurshok...they seemed like an interesting race.
As for something new, Frumious Bandersnatches...been wondering for years what the hell they look like. :erm:
belboz on 5/6/2009 at 18:41
so where were the puppets in tds.
Frumious Bandersnatches they're from a sci-fi book they looked like land based whales, or big whale sized maggots. there was the skeletal remains of a bandersnatch in one of the ringworld books, they were hunted by pak protectors, the original ringworld engineers before being buggered by the Halo games on the xbox.

Which critters and races I'd love to see again ?
Burricks :)
Kurshoks :thumb:
Treebeasts (both types) :D
Haunts (a blend of the TDP and TDS version) :ebil:
Craymen ! :D :thumb:
I don't mind the various beastmen races appearing again, but they should be more plentiful only in close proximity to Pagans and Pagan settlements. It would be nice to see one or two new species in addition to the already known ones (that is : ratmen, apemen, bugbeasts, craybeasts and craymen).
Which critters I'm not longing to see ?
Zombies (not scary, they're just annoying)
Elementals (yawn)
Mechs (I had an overdose of them in TMA, thank you...)
I'll give the zombies some mercy, but only if the devs at Eidos Monty create them as a combination of the TDP and TDS version (rotten, fleshy, mummified, moaning, hissing, exploding both into chunks and dust, and mainly, FAST, NOT SLOW !).
Critters I don't mind appearing, but who I'm not fond of :
Ghosts and apparitions (especialy the silly ones doing the campy "skull-shooting" Cradle-like ghosts were much more sinister )
Spiders (boring and annoying, I think they shouldn't be very common)
Frogbeasts (fine as improvised hand grenades, but otherwise uninteresting)
Fire shadows (nothing special, just more powerful ghosts on fire)
