It'll eat your llife for three weeks, you'll drive everyone crazy, then you'll see a thread about it and remember it.
IF you don't get a great multiplayer guild going by raw force...

It does seem rather fun :) although when you have a massive shield/AA wall next to your oponetns shield/AA wall it IS rather hard to make progress! I had to wait for him to put a tower down somewhere near a hub and I then spammed him with a virus until he died. Bwhahaha
EMP+immediate destruction of shield generator and attack.
Accept the downing of your own shield unless you're a really really good shot
. Rebuild and have lots of resources and repairing leeway.
Build wisely and don't miss.

Buglunch -
unfortunalty the way the hubs were I couldn't EMP his sheild generator without taking down my own hub I needed to attack him! (bad planning) Or maybe I could in theory but I couldn't land it in the right place.
If you can't EMP a shield safely, you probably want to send out a new hub to attack from a different angle, or else see if you can't do the post-EMP attack from an existing hub further up the line... guided missiles can be useful here, as they can (potentially) travel further than anything else. Less useful if there are still active defence systems, but worth considering.

Damnit I am stuck on the system 7 level where you get attacked by a million crawlers :(
Best stratergy I found for surviving so far is to not make any nodes but just reclaim anything that hits me then try to save up engery for a crawler rush at one of the oponents, but they just cause some massive explosion somewhere or get reclaimed :(
if I try building new nodes the chords are too much of a risk and I die quickly.

You do need to retain enough energy for any reclamations (and make sure you have enough balloons out to know how many are coming), but just watch for the direction they approach from and gradually expand outwards towards one of them as safely as you can. With each opponent (and their crawlers) removed, you'll have significantly less to worry about, but that first kill can take a while.
Just make certain that if you build a new node, you will still have enough energy to protect it from any nearby crawlers. You can then switch your defence of that opponent to the new node.
I didn't do this myself, but note that you can also expend less energy by flinging cheap targets out there for the crawlers to hit... this can help you to expand faster, so long as the detonations are sufficiently far away to avoid damaging your important structures. Similarly, if you can safely bomb an incoming crawler, then do it.

Isn't it better to have the safety of triple mines at medium distance than throwing cheap targets? this protects you from other things and serves as a warning alarm, too.
Shadowcat on 15/3/2005 at 04:10
Probably. I never actually used the mines. There's obviously a gap in my strategies! Will a single mine take out a crawler? And if so, what sort of proximity can it do this from? (Ah, I see that mines will display their radius as with anti-air missile silos).
The advantage of throwing, say, a tower, is that you can use the cord as the target as well as the tower itself, so you potentially have a very large 'shield' in place. If you're lucky (or cunning) enough to have a crawler collide with the mid-point of a long cord, You might get away with no damage whatsoever.
And of course, mines cost 3 points of energy while towers cost 1, which is noteworthy if you're low on the stuff.
edit: you know, I keep forgetting that you acquire next-round energy for reclaiming enemy units, so all my talk of alternative anti-crawler techniques in order to minimise energy expenditure is probably a bit pointless (provided you don't miss your targets, that is! :)

Yay! I managed it this time :)
Reclaiming all the crawlers is good as they tend to all take turns in the same place so you can get very good at hitting them.
Very satisfying to kill the oponents with a crawler :) Land it next to their hub and their AA gun detonates it for you :)
