I've played the game a couple of times through now with different choices, and a couple of times starting from a few select chapters to see what different choices affect the overall outcome.
I would have hoped for puzzles, and more long-term choices in the first half of the game. Also there are a couple of small, weird (unexplained) gaps in the story.
Other than those, I thought this was a rather awesome game!
It would've been neat that with every new game, the game would've randomly chosen who is the killer.
Oh, and the opening of the "Making of"-movies reveals some info on where most of the budget went. ;)

Just watched (

I'm playing it, and I'm loving it.
Oh, it's got its issues, like every other game, but the sweep and execution of it is relentless. When I find it hard to put the controller down, I know that whatever I'm playing has done something right.
I can imagine showing Heavy Rain to my friends, though, and them looking at the screen and then back at me and saying, 'Um, isn't this a game? Aren't you supposed to be playing it?'
But fuck that. It's a game (yes) with a vision, of following through with its ideas. After I found out how Norman Jayden chooses to 'redecorate' his office, I couldn't help but smile. That one bit -- it's part tongue-in-cheek, part celebration, and part social comment. Most people might think it's a throwaway bit of frippery, but after I visited Jayden's office, I'm more than willing to see Cage and his vision through.
The industry needs more people as filled with insane ideas and as recklessly ambitious as David Cage.

Peter Molyneux is out of his fucking mind, what else is new.

Loved the game, great experiance. It had it's flaws, sure. But it was forgiving with mistakes (one or two missed buttons won't kill you) and took the time to build up the characters in the story.
Two things that stuck in my mind though (major spoilers) -
There's a difference between misleading the player the being outright assholes. So the main character has random blackouts, wakes up hours later in a random location and has an oragami? And the villain is the Oragami Killer, who drowns his victims in rainwater? Fuck off.
And the second point -
You can see the characters thoughts during the game, which is supposed to give you a clue as to what to do next or give insight into them. So wouldn't you figure that, while playing as Scott, looking at his thoughts would have shown stuff like, "I'm the Origami Killer" or "Gotta go kill more kids!". Honestly it seems like at the end of the game, the developers themselves still hadn't figured out who the killer was. So they just picked at random and tried to make the story fit.

Regarding your second point, I think the game would have been stronger if they'd stepped away from the cliché of it being one of the main characters and made it a third party. Maybe the psychiatrist, although again, that feels a bit too clichéd.

To be honest, through the first half of the game I thought itWAS the psychiatrist. Somehow causing Ethan's blackouts, focusing the police on him. But no. It was the fat guy.

Should pick up my Special Edition copy tomorrow :p Decided to buy PS3 pretty much because of this game ( and yet other 3-4 games I'm very interested in ).
I love Fahrenheit, it was really revolutionary for me - was totally immersed, even more than during watching a perfect movie, similar to what Silent Hill 2 did some years earlier, even with all the (unexpected) story shortcomings in the 2nd part of the game. I hope HR will deliver, like Fahrenheit did , and more. Meantime, re-watched intro credits section like 10 times - love the music and setting :)

Buy it for Heavy Rain.
Keep it for Demon's Souls.
