So adventure games are supposed to have shitty gameplay now?
Has an adventure game ever had good gameplay? Puzzles maybe, but any theorist will tell you puzzles and games are two different things. I'm not hating on adventure games here, I just think most people play adventure games for things other than gameplay.
Here is more on the non-QTE elements of Heavy Rain:

Yeah that minigame where you had to tap a button to lift crates from one end of the room to the other was pretty awesome. And what about those QuickTimeEvents where you walk on planks over a 4-storey drop eh eh?

Looks very interesting. Hell, it looked interesting from the very first proper trailer. The old tech demo was coolsies, but it was just that - a tech demo. Plus, I've got a soft spot for chicks with short, dark hair. But I also don't think there'll be a PC version, unfortunately. The only thing that lessens my disappointment is the sight of the rather queer control system, but not by much.
That made me regret not having gone any further with my French since I left highschool, I could only pick up bits and pieces. Regardless, when the speaker goes like "Vous admirez, en passant, la qualité de la motion capture." (sp?), as the character's hips gently swing from side to side while going up the stairs, you can't help but
know what he's on about.

Microsoft charges royalties PER disc and they don't offer developers the option of mandatory HDD install (like Sony do with the PS3).
What a bunch of douchebags. Sure, nothing new, but still.

Heavy Rain has been and will most likely stay on my list of games to definitely wait for.

What other Adventure games, aside from similar Sega-developed titles, had a fully-realised (and complex) combat gameplay system that is the opposite of total suckage?

Along with a PS3 emulator of some sort.

David Cage said that PS3 want's them to show off what the system can do, and they want them to make the best game possible.
