I don't know why I read thsi thread. I'm excited to play this game, but reading this thread is just a sea of blue spioler tags (which is good! I'm really happy you guys are using them), it just makes me wonder why I keep coming back to this thread to see what's going on.
I'm in the process of playing through ME1 again. I still have my character from my first playthrough, but I beat it well over a year ago and the story isn't fresh in my memory. My first playthrough was as an Infiltrator, and thsi time I'm using a soldier. I suppose I mostly use biotics and tech abilities through my party.
my point.... umm... thanks for using spoiler tags.
I should stop reading this thread until I've been playing ME2...
But there is about $250 worth of new games on steam i want to buy, with this and BS2 and Metro 2033 and AVP3.. *sigh*

You should get it. With the possible exception of Alpha Protocol or Fallout:NV this is pretty much a lock for game of the year.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the best videogames i EVER played. PERIOD. it IS THAT GOOD. it has the best writing bioware has done in ages, leagues better than other videogames and even some movies. the first 2 characters Miranda + Jacob are the most boring ones (miranda is ok) but Mordin, Jack, the secret companion, Tali, Thane, even Grunt in some manner are awesome, nuanced and flawlessly voiced. the loyalty missions are the best RPG/shooter missions I ever played. It's like Bioware was struck by lightning.

This. Also, agreeing with Mothra is kinda creepy.

Agreed.
I played every free second I had and it felt like having a parallel life..
The last game to do that for me was HL2.

I agree ....
that other ppl agreeing with my is creepy...for me as well.
I'm already on my 5th playthrough. I think I will replay every missions with every possible squad member to get all the excellent dialogue snippets.

REQUIRE ASSISTENCE SHEPARD COMMANDER !!!!awesome, this shows the care Bioware put into this game since the combination of doing Tali's mission with the secret member already onboard is highly unlikely in a "normal" playthrough, even on replays since it makes the last mission go broke in some ways.

really? Half-Life 2 gave you that 'parallel life' feeling that is typically reserved for only the best RPGs? First time I have ever heard that. Not a cut on you, just saying that I am surprised is all. Sure I was completely engrossed in it back in '04, but not to that extent.

The only game to give me that 'parallel life' feeling was, and I think shall only ever be, Ultima VII: The Black Gate. VI and V before it come close enough, but the promise was realised with VII. Of course, that might also be due to the fact that The Avatar had his own parallel life on Earth, but hey.

Apparently, you get beer goggles in the game if you go to the bar in illium and start drinking. The asari matriach bartender looks younger and younger with every drink.

Genius!
Does that happen with both sexes of shepard, I wonder...?
(it's not like femshep doesn't have precedent..potentially)
